Job summary

Airedale by Modine is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer in Bradford to unify traditional manufacturing engineering duties with new process development and safety activities, emphasizing continuous improvement. The role reports to the Plant Manager and contributes to Bradford’s ongoing development.

You will design and optimise processes, translate drawings to manufacturable steps, and lead CI initiatives to reduce costs and improve quality. Strong problem-solving and CAD skills are essential.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, optimise, and validate manufacturing processes to ensure efficient, quality, and safe production.
• Translate engineering drawings into manufacturable processes and document process information and work instructions.
• Design factory layouts and select machinery and tooling.
• Lead continuous improvement (CI) projects focusing on cost reduction, waste elimination, and cycle time improvement.
• Provide day-to-day production support, troubleshoot issues, and analyse production data.

Job description

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Manufacturing Engineer in Bradford reporting to the Plant Manager. This role will combine traditional manufacturing engineering responsibilities across all current manufacturing processes, new process and safety related activities with a strong focus on continuous improvement. This will be a varied and exciting role which will play a key part in Bradford’s ongoing development.

Key Responsibilities

• To design, develop, optimise, and validate new and existing manufacturing processes to ensure efficient, quality, and safe production
• To translate engineering drawings into manufacturable processes and to create and document process information and work instructions
• To design factory layouts and select machinery and tooling
• Support new product and process introduction and lead prototype builds
• Provide day‑to‑day production support, troubleshoot process issues and improve existing processes by collecting and analysing production data
• Work on the introduction and commissioning of new capital expenditure projects from machinery section through to commissioning and long term development
• Lead CI projects focused on cost reduction, waste elimination, cycle time improvement, and quality enhancement etc.

Required Education & Qualifications

• Strong work experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Excellent engineering problem‑solving and analytical skills.
• Basic CAD proficiency (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
• Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field or equivalent job experience.
• Experience utilising lean manufacturing tools and techniques such as value stream mapping, 5S, SMED, and TPM etc.
• You must be proactive, self‑motivated, inquisitive and have an instinctive engineering fix it, improve it, problem solving mindset.
• You must like getting in to the detail and seeing things through to a conclusion.
• You must be a good communicator and enjoy influencing and inspiring others to adopt new ways of working.
