Job summary

Lodestone Recruitment Ltd in Bradford seeks a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to drive efficiency, quality and capability across a modern CNC machining facility. You will own the process from method planning and programming through fixturing and proving out, and serve as the shop floor focal point when a job isn’t running as it should.

You’ll programme using Edgecam or similar, develop methods, select tooling, design fixtures, support first-off and push improvements to reduce lead time and cost

Qualifications

• Apprentice-trained with solid CNC machining background.
• Edgecam CAD/CAM experience (or similar).
• Strong tooling knowledge and optimisation.
• Experience designing or introducing fixtures, jigs and workholding.
• Confident reading engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Engineering qualification (HNC/HND or equivalent) or strong practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Programme machined components using Edgecam or similar from model to post-processed code.
• Develop manufacturing methods, routings and work instructions.
• Select and optimise tooling to improve cycle times and surface finish.
• Design, specify and introduce fixtures, jigs and workholding solutions.
• Support first-off, proving out and handover to production.
• Investigate production issues and implement fixes.
• Drive continuous improvement to reduce cost and lead time.

Job description

A long-established precision engineering and manufacturing group in Bradford is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to drive efficiency, quality and capability across a modern CNC machining facility.

This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who understands what happens in the machining process. You'll own the process from method planning and programming through to fixturing and proving out, and you'll be the person the shop floor comes to when a job isn't running as it should.

The role

• Programme machined components using Edgecam software or similar, from model through to post-processed, proven code


• Develop manufacturing methods, routings and work instructions for new and existing parts


• Select and optimise tooling to improve cycle times, tool life and surface finish


• Design, specify and introduce fixtures, jigs and workholding solutions


• Support first-off, proving out and handover to production


• Investigate production issues — scrap, non-conformance, bottlenecks — and put fixes in place


• Drive continuous improvement to reduce cost and lead time across the cell

What you'll need

• Apprentice trained and have a solid CNC machining background


• Edgecam CAD/CAM experience (other packages considered where Edgecam can be picked up quickly)


• Strong tooling knowledge — selection, application and optimisation


• Experience designing or introducing fixtures, jigs and workholding


• Confident reading engineering drawings and GD&T


• Engineering qualification (HNC/HND or equivalent) or apprentice-trained with strong practical experience


• Low-to-medium volume, high-mix precision manufacturing experience is ideal
