Job summary

Fortis Recruitment Solutions Ltd in Basingstoke is seeking a Buyer for an initial 3-month temporary assignment within a manufacturing/engineering environment. You will place external purchase orders, expedite suppliers, and manage ERP-driven processes to ensure timely delivery of parts and services.

The role requires strong purchasing experience, solid ERP/MS Office skills, and good interpersonal communication.

Qualifications

• Buyer experience in a manufacturing/engineering environment.
• Experience of purchasing and supply chain.
• Computer literate - experienced user of MS Office and ERP systems.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Raise and schedule Purchase Orders (PO) to deliver goods and services at the right price and in a timeframe that meets the business needs in line with the ERP system.
• Maintain and update delivery dates on all open purchase orders on the ERP system.
• Expedite and report to management on status and update of parts and purchase orders, including exception messages from the ERP system.
• Represent Purchasing at daily production meetings, liaising with the operational team and Site Lead Operational Manager.
• Maintain good customer and supplier relationships between departments and vendors.
• Ensure Purchase Orders are raised correctly, and all relevant receipts are verified.
• Process items as fast-track orders if identified as urgent.
• Resolve invoice discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Undertake any other relevant duties for the benefit of the company or team effort.
• Attend team meetings to discuss and contribute to meeting operational requirements and service improvements.
• Be the first point of contact for any purchase order queries internally or externally
