Job summary

Lockheed Martin offers a Level 3 Engineering Fitter Apprenticeship designed to develop practical skills for a high‑level team of Electrical and Mechanical Assembly Technicians.

The programme covers electrical assembly techniques, interpreting drawings, and using hand tools and test equipment while liaising with engineering leaders to improve methods and solve process issues.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths at grades 9–4 or A*-C.
• Two A-Levels including Maths or Physics OR Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering.
• Completed Level 3 Extended Diploma in an Engineering related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Learn electrical and mechanical assembly techniques as part of the apprenticeship.
• Interpret drawings and follow written instructions to assemble components.
• Use hand tools and measuring/test equipment during training.
• Collaborate with Engineering and manufacturing teams to improve assembly methods.
• Prioritise workload to meet deliverable timelines.

This job offers a level 3 engineering fitter apprenticeship and will involve training in the following:

• A comprehensive range of Electrical assembly techniques
• Interpreting drawings and working from written instructions.
• Use of hand tools, and measuring and test equipment.
• Liaise with Engineering and manufacturing team leaders to improve electrical assembly methods and design.
• Use problem solving techniques to solve process related issues.
• Ability to prioritise work load in order to meet deliverable commitment timelines.
• Experience of 6 ‘S’ principles and lean manufacturing / continuous improvement tools and techniques
