Manual Machinist | Turner | £compt (depending on experience)

Overview

We're currently seeking a skilled manual machinist (turning) for a Poole-based manufacturer on a short-term contract. The role involves working to tight tolerances on exotic materials, maintaining high standards of quality.

Responsibilities

Your duties will include:

• Operating manual lathes
• Inspecting work with bore comparators, bore mics, verniers, callipers, and air gauges to ensure precision within tight tolerances
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
• Performing pressure tests on assembled components to verify integrity and performance
• Using fitting tools such as presses and hand tools for assembly tasks

Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate must have:

• Extensive experience with manual lathes
• Experience working with various material grades and selecting appropriate tools
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and follow planning requirements
• Experience with pressure testing (training provided if necessary)
