Job summary

People First (Recruitment) Ltd in London seeks a Mandarin-speaking Assistant FX Trader to manage client positions and provide trading support in a busy global markets team.

The role requires fluent Mandarin and English, solid banking exposure, and a degree in Economics or Finance. You will work full-time in our London office, report to the General Manager – Global Market, and help ensure compliance with UK and international regulations, including overnight coverage.

Qualifications

• Fluent English and Mandarin with excellent communication skills.
• Relevant banking or financial institution experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or above in Economics, Finance or related discipline.
• Eligibility to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Manage FX client positions and customer platforms within authorised trading and market risk limits.
• Quote and manage FX positions as a market maker.
• Report transaction data in accordance with UK and Chinese regulatory requirements.
• Provide trading support and undertake other office administration and ad hoc duties as needed.
• Stay abreast of market trends and monitor quotations; assist Line Manager as required.

Purpose of the Job

• Manage foreign exchange and precious metals client positions and customer platforms on a daily basis within authorised trading and market risk limits.
• Quote and manage FX positions as a market maker.
• Report transaction data in accordance with applicable UK and Chinese regulatory requirements.
• Assist the Global Markets (London) team in achieving objectives set by Head Office.

Mandarin Speaking Assistant FX Trader - What You'll be Doing

• Staying abreast with local regulatory requirement in the Banking industry and ensuring operational process is compliant with local regulations at all times;
• Conduct position operations within authorised trading and market risk limits;
• Monitor and ensure the accuracy of quotations for customers and market makers;
• Monitor market trends and report to the General Manager of the London Centre when required;
• Provide trading support and undertake other office administration and ad hoc duties as assigned; and
• Other ad hoc tasks as assigned by Line Manager.

Mandarin Speaking Assistant FX Trader - The Skills You'll Need to Succeed

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Economics, Finance or a related discipline.
• Excellent communication skills in both English and Mandarin;
• Relevant work experience in a bank or financial institution;
• Have practical knowledge of foreign exchange, interest-rate and relevant markets operation, with the ability to provide trading support;
• Strong compliance, risk awareness and confidentiality awareness;
• Excellent communication and coordination skills, resilience under pressure, and the ability to work shifts and provide overnight trading coverage;
