Job summary

Thames Water is seeking a Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead a team of up to 40 QS professionals and drive commercial performance across major projects in AMP8. This pivotal role delivers value, governance and contract assurance for an essential utility's delivery programme.

Qualifications

• Degree or master’s in quantity surveying or equivalent.
• Experience leading up to 40 Quantity Surveyors and developing them to chartership.
• Extensive experience in commercial management of projects pre- and post-contract.
• Experience negotiating with suppliers on commercial/contract matters and assessing risk.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Full UK driving licence and access to transport.
• Chartered or detailed knowledge of the RICS.
• Knowledge of water regulation (OFWAT) desirable.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring Contractual Compliance is maintained on all Contracts.
• Act as second point of escalation for non-performance and corrective actions.
• Developing and advising on Procurement Strategies for your Delivery Area.
• Support procurement and supplier management with robust commercial processes.
• Relationship management with Direct Delivery Contractors.
• Performance reporting and management of team.
• Ensure in-life supplier value for money.
• Provide data for cost database to support estimating and planning.
• Manage and develop team members toward chartership.
• Ensure payments are certified and processed per contracts.
• Advise on budget management and spend.
• Provide commercial dispute advice and resolve claims as required.
• Support resolution of disputes and departmental strategy.
