Job summary

Thames Water seeks a Principal Quantity Surveyor to lead a dedicated team of quantity surveyors delivering major projects in AMP8. You will oversee a contractor programme value up to £200m per annum and provide essential commercial support across contracts.

The role requires a degree in quantity surveying, strong leadership, and experience in pre- and post-contract duties, with a focus on cost control and governance. Hybrid working at Reading and Maple Lodge.

Qualifications

• Degree or master's in quantity surveying or equivalent.
• Background in civil engineering sectors such as transportation, nuclear, utilities or similar.

Responsibilities

• Provide commercial assurance for major projects and programmes contracts.
• Give contractual advice and guidance to delivery teams.
• Manage cost against budget and report on risks and contingencies.
• Develop and manage team members and progression toward chartership.
• Challenge project tenders and ensure timely payments per contract terms.
• Support procurement and assist in tender document preparation.
• Maintain financial governance and contract governance inputs.
• Resolve claims in collaboration with stakeholders.
