Job summary

A leading company in the construction sector is seeking a Managing Quantity Surveyor for their project team based in Loughton, Essex. You will be responsible for managing contracts on a multi-million pound scheme, ensuring accurate financial accounting and client relations while supporting junior staff. Candidates should possess an HND or degree in Quantity Surveying, ideally with RICS membership or related professional qualifications.

• Knowledge of ICE/NEC forms of contract and Construction Law.
• Ability to support and encourage junior members of the team.

We're looking for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join our project team based in Loughton, Essex.

Location: Loughton, Essex

Contract: Permanent, Full-Time

What will you be responsible for?

As a Managing Quantity Surveyor, you'll work within the project team, supporting them in delivering a multi-million pound scheme.

Your day-to-day duties will include:

• Ensuring works are valued, including any variations, in accordance with the contract and analyses to determine the project True Value.
• Ensuring that main contracts have appropriate terms and conditions for Kier, with commercial risks identified.
• Engaging the supply chain appropriately with correct contract terms and conditions.
• Fostering good client relationships.
• Managing subcontract letting, negotiation, and financial accounting.

What are we looking for?

This role is suitable for candidates with:

• HND/degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent, with familiarity with ICE/NEC forms of contract and knowledge of current Construction Law.
• Experience in commercial management and procurement of subcontractors, including chairing meetings, measurement, control cycles, certificates, and accruals calculations.
• Good knowledge of monthly reporting and earned value analysis.
• Excellent time management skills and ability to work to tight deadlines.
• Ability to support and encourage junior members of the Commercial Team.
• Member of RICS or other relevant professional body, or working towards it.
• CSCS card.
