Job description

The purpose of the Managing Director post is to develop and embed the Collaborative's strategic direction, governance, transformation, and organisational development programme, operational and financial performance.

This pivotal role is responsible for driving development and growth while fostering a positive 'can do' culture across stakeholders to support transformation and quality improvement initiatives benefiting patients and staff.

The Managing Director will recruit and lead a commissioning and transformation team to deliver benefits such as:

Main duties

The Managing Director will collaborate with Clinical Directors to ensure effective operation of new care models, develop partnerships, pathways, and service models.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Reporting to the Lead CEO of the East of England Provider Collaborative
  • Managing day-to-day operations within the region
  • Engaging with providers and commissioners, including ICBs and local authorities
  • Ensuring leadership, performance, financial, and governance standards are met

  • Develop a cohesive leadership team and clear work plans for assurance and improvement.
  • Manage resources, ensure regulatory compliance, and meet contractual obligations.

  • Prepare for future commissioning, develop strategic plans, and lead clinical redesigns.
  • Ensure patient and carer views influence decisions, promote innovation, and oversee quality and safety standards.
  • Implement governance, monitor performance, manage risks, and ensure service continuity.
  • Engage with service users, partners, and stakeholders at regional and local levels.
  • Represent the collaborative in various forums and ensure delivery of operational, financial, and workforce objectives.
  • Review performance, support improvement, and foster strong relationships with clinicians and regulatory bodies.

Skills & Abilities

  • Effective leadership in complex environments with multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to develop networks, identify growth opportunities, and operate advanced MS Office skills.

Experience

  • Senior management experience in an NHS Trust.
  • Experience of staff engagement, service change, and complex problem management.
  • Experience in health or social care commissioning, working with NHS regulators, and senior NHS networks.

  • Degree-level education.
