Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Cardiff is seeking a Managing Building Surveyor to lead multi-disciplinary teams on high-profile projects across retail, health, energy, and commercial sectors. You will manage client relationships, provide technical leadership, and mentor junior colleagues while delivering refurbishment, improvement and modernisation works.

The role requires MRICS status and proven building surveying experience, with strong commercial acumen, bid development skills, and a proactive leadership

Qualifications

• MRICS Chartered status essential/highly desirable.
• Significant building surveying experience.
• Experience managing clients with strong profitability and business development awareness.
• Experience mentoring, training and coaching team members.
• Line management experience desirable.
• Full understanding of Health and Safety requirements and statutory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking a range of building surveying services including feasibility studies, specifications, estimates, approvals and contract administration for refurbishment projects.
• Working across several projects in different sectors, providing refurbishment, improvement and modernization projects.
• Using standard forms of building contract (e.g., JCT and NEC).
• Mentoring Building Surveyors and providing Supervisor support to Junior Surveyors on the RICS APC programme.
• Supporting senior managers in day-to-day activities.
• Line management of junior Building Surveying staff.
• Development of new business opportunities including bids and submissions.

As a Managing Building Surveyor, you’ll be central to some of the UK’s most significant projects. Your portfolio will vary across retail, health, energy, commercial property, education, and public sectors. Your role

• Undertaking a range of building surveying services including feasibility studies, producing specifications, obtaining estimates, obtaining statutory approvals and administering contracts for refurbishment projects.
• Working across several projects in different sectors, providing a range of refurbishment, improvement and modernisation projects.
• Using and applying standard forms of building contract, such as JCT and NEC.
• Mentoring and training Building Surveyors and providing Supervisor support to Junior Surveyors on the RICS APC programme.
• Supporting the senior managers in their day‑to‑day activities.
• Line management of junior Building Surveying staff.
• Development of new business opportunities including preparation and submission of bids.

About you

• MRICS Chartered status essential/highly desirable.
