Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Manchester is seeking a Senior Building Surveyor to lead building surveying services across refurbishment projects for prestigious clients. You will manage client relationships, mentor junior surveyors, and apply JCT and NEC contract knowledge to drive projects forward.

You will join a collaborative Buildings & Places team, contribute to health and safety compliance, and deliver first-class service across sectors such as retail, health and education.

Qualifications

• MRICS Chartered status is highly desirable.
• Strong technical surveying knowledge with substantial experience.
• Experience managing clients with focus on profitability and business development.
• Experience mentoring, training and coaching team members.
• Full understanding of Health and Safety requirements and statutory compliance.
• Excellent time management and commitment to completing tasks.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking a range of building surveying services including feasibility studies and specifications for refurbishment projects.
• Producing estimates, obtaining statutory approvals and administering contracts.
• Working across several projects in different sectors with refurbishment and modernisation work.
• Applying standard forms of building contracts such as JCT and NEC.
• Mentoring and training Building Surveyors and supervising Junior Surveyors on APC.

This role has excellent prospects for an individual who enjoys working within a vibrant team, has experience in managing client relationships, enjoys variety across all areas of Building Surveying, and will provide a first‑class service to our prestigious clients.

As well as technical competence, we are looking for a Building Surveyor who has strong commercial awareness and who can inspire clients and mentor junior colleagues with their client relationship and communication skills.

Your role

• Undertaking a range of building surveying services including feasibility studies, producing specifications, obtaining estimates, obtaining statutory approvals and administering contracts for refurbishment projects.
• Working across several projects in different sectors, providing a range of refurbishment, improvement and modernisation projects.
• Using and applying standard forms of building contract, such as JCT and NEC.
• Mentoring and training Building Surveyors and providing Supervisor support to Junior Surveyors on the RICS APC programme.
• Supporting the senior managers in their day‑to‑day activities.

About You

• MRICS Chartered status highly desirable.
• Sound technical surveying knowledge and significant building surveying experience.
• Experience managing clients, with a strong understanding of profitability, business development and sound commercial awareness.
• Experience in mentoring, training and coaching team members.
• Full understanding of Health and Safety requirements and Statutory Compliance.
• Excellent time management, punctuality and commitment to getting the job done.
