AtkinsRéalis in Wales is seeking a Graduate / Assistant Building Surveyor to join our Building Surveying Practice. You’ll operate in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment delivering a wide range of services to public and private sector clients.

This role offers a clear APC pathway, structured training, an assigned Supervisor and access to leading digital tools and methodologies, with hybrid working and progression toward chartership.

Qualifications

  • BSc (Hons) in Building Surveying (RICS accredited degree).
  • Actively working towards MRICS or equivalent preferred.
  • Awareness of design, construction, and project delivery in refurbishment projects.
  • Experience with pre-/post-contract activities and CDM 2015 knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver a range of building surveying duties across projects.
  • Undertake surveys, defect diagnosis and due diligence; stay updated on industry practices.
  • Prepare professional reports, schedules of work and technical drawings.
  • Assist with project management and contract administration across sectors.
  • Support pre- and post-contract activities under JCT/NEC forms.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to fit experience level.
  • Contribute to refurbishment and maintenance delivery and sustainability assessments.

Our Building Surveying Practice continues to grow, and we are seeking a Graduate / Assistant Building Surveyor to join our Wales team. You'll operate within a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment, delivering a wide range of Building Surveying services to a diverse client base including public sector, private sector, education, defence, central government and infrastructure organisations.

This role offers excellent career progression potential for individuals working towards Chartership, with strong ambitions to develop technical, professional and project delivery capabilities within a forward‑thinking consultancy. You will benefit from our structured APC programme, technical training sessions, an assigned Supervisor and Counsellor, and access to industry‑leading digital tools and methodologies.

Your role
  • Working across a number of projects in different sectors and providing a range of building surveying duties.
  • Undertaking condition surveys, measured surveys, defect diagnosis and technical due diligence; maintaining awareness of industry developments and best practice.
  • Preparing professional reports, schedules of work, specifications and technical drawings.
  • Assisting with Project Management and Contract Administration across a range of sectors.
  • Supporting pre‑ and post‑contract activities under JCT and NEC forms of contract.
  • Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects appropriate to your experience and competency level.
  • Supporting the design and delivery of refurbishment, maintenance and small‑to‑medium capital projects.
  • Contributing to sustainability and building safety assessments, including compliance with CDM 2015 and the Building Safety Act.
Client & Team Collaboration
  • Helping to maintain strong client relationships and ensuring high‑quality service delivery, with support from senior colleagues where required.
  • Participating in team knowledge‑sharing, CPD and professional development activities.
  • Contributing to quality assurance, best practice initiatives and continuous improvement.
  • Understanding the principles of quality, health and safety, and environmental management within project delivery.
About you
Qualifications & Training
  • BSc (Hons) in Building Surveying (RICS accredited degree) or equivalent.
  • Actively working towards professional membership preferred, namely MRICS or equivalent.
  • A developing foundation of building surveying knowledge, preferably with experience gained through placements, internships or post‑graduate roles.
  • Awareness of design and construction processes, building pathology, statutory compliance and project delivery, particularly in refurbishment and extension projects.
  • Experience delivering pre‑ and post‑contract project management activities.
  • Understanding of Health and Safety requirements, including CDM 2015 and the Building Safety Act.
  • An awareness of the application of standard forms of building contracts (e.g. JCT and NEC).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with AutoCAD, Revit or digital surveying tools is advantageous.
  • Experience in sectors such as education, local authorities, healthcare, central government or infrastructure is desirable.
