This Opportunity:
Palladium is growing its health systems strengthening and global health security portfolio, and is seeking an experienced Health Manager to join its UKEA team to support business expansion and programme implementation. Joining Palladium’s Health Cluster, the Manager will bring business development, project management, and technical acumen to this role.
The primary focus of this role (60%) will be to drive business development (BD) for new opportunities in health internationally. In their BD capacity, the Manager will identify new leads – with an emphasis on client diversification – oversee capture and bid pursuits, manage bid teams, contribute strategic and technical content to programme design, and produce high-quality proposal content. Alongside their BD contributions, the Manager will likewise support the successful delivery of our ongoing and new programmes (40%) in a project management and technical oversight capacity.
While primary responsibilities will be within the Health Cluster, Palladium team members at all levels work extensively and collaboratively with others in the company. The incoming Manager will likewise contribute to the work of other clusters and regions within Palladium to advance growth goals, build relationships and visibility for work, develop innovative approaches and methodologies, and create dynamic teams.
Location:
The position is based in Palladium’s London office in our UKEA region. While there is potential for visa sponsorship for this role, preference will be given to qualified UK-based candidates. Palladium operates a hybrid working arrangement: 3 days in office, 2 days from home.
Reporting and Supervision:
The Manager will work within UKEA’s health cluster, reporting to a London-based UKEA Health Director.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Business Development (60%)
· Support the identification and assessment of new business opportunities, with a focus on health systems strengthening and global health security.
· Gather market intelligence, including leading research on thematic issues, countries, clients, partners, and competitors.
· Support client diversification through development of strategies and approaches to grow and expand business with a wide range of clients.
· Manage business development pursuits from start to finish.
· Support health programme design and develop key proposal content, including for both technical and commercial proposals.
· Contribute to client relationship-building through the development of technical positioning papers, facilitation of brown bag lunches, strong relationship management, and other external engagements.
· Contribute to business development knowledge management efforts, including maintaining the currency and accuracy of new business data in corporate databases.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
Programme Delivery (40%)
· Expertly programme manage new and ongoing projects, including supporting in-country teams in annual workplanning, subcontracting, risk management, compliance, and robust financial management. Work closely with programme teams to ensure projects are delivered against client expectations and internal targets.
· Contribute to client relationship management and reporting activities, including developing content for and quality assuring quarterly reports, annual reports, annual reviews, mid-term reviews, and other reporting as required.
· Other duties as relevant by programme, including contributing to broader technical delivery and monitoring and evaluation efforts.
Key Competencies Required:
· Proven ability to secure/win new business in the health sector, including through client engagement and relationship management, robust management of opportunity pursuits and the development of high-quality proposal content.
· Demonstrated understanding of health systems strengthening, with a strong preference for emerging expertise in global health security.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; a brief written case study assessment will be provided to short-listed candidates.
· Demonstrated programme management excellence, with evidence of delivering and managing international projects to high standards.
· Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to interact professionally with culturally diverse staff, clients, and consultants.
· Exceptional attention to detail and quality of products.
· Proven ability to manage and train people.
· Strong problem solving and decision-making skills, with a solutions-oriented mindset.
· Ability to travel and work in low and lower-middle income countries for short to medium periods of time.
Professional Expertise Preferred:
· Experience working with other bilateral (esp. European) donors, UK government departments and agencies, and/or multilaterals.
· Prior expertise successfully delivering an FCDO-funded programme in a programme management or technical assistance capacity.
· Experience working in a developing country or in a project-based environment.
· Financial acumen and the ability to generate, interpret, and analyse financial reports and forecasts using Excel and other financial reporting/forecasting systems as demonstrated by experience.
· Professional working proficiency in another language, particularly French.
