Description
The contract role of the Group Finance Manager involves actively participating in all aspects of the Group's financial accounting, supporting the Director, Group Accounting as needed. The focus will be on continuous improvement, reviewing current consolidation and reporting processes to identify areas for enhancement. The role will also support the development of two Group Accountants within the team.
Your Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Consolidation Accountant to maintain and improve the Group's consolidation process, including ensuring efficiency of consolidation adjustments, intercompany trading elimination, and balance reconciliations.
- Manage balance sheet and cash flow reporting within Planful, ensuring the Chart of Accounts (CoA) is appropriate and up-to-date.
- Assist with acquisition-related finance activities, including goodwill calculations, review of balance sheets for new acquisitions, and liaising with the M&A team and external advisors.
- Embed capital expenditure (capex) reporting into the Group Finance team with effective processes and controls.
- Drive reporting improvements across divisions by defining accountabilities, developing policies, and providing training on technical topics.
- Develop KPIs for reporting performance and recommend enhancements.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and arbiter for technical accounting discussions.
Key Relationships
- Work with Divisional CFOs and Finance teams to optimize reporting processes.
- Coordinate with the Group Treasurer on management and statutory accounts, cash, and working capital movements.
- Interact with the Group CFO, Deputy CFO, and Group FC on monthly results.
- Collaborate with the Group Tax Manager to ensure accurate posting of tax positions.
- Engage with external auditors and advisors.
Qualifications and Skills
- Qualified accountant (ACA) with at least 10 years of post-qualification experience in industry.
- Strong knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS.
- Experience in preparing group statutory and management accounts.
- Experience with large consolidations and working with multiple companies/divisions.
- Innovative mindset, proactive approach, and willingness to improve processes.
- Ability to work under pressure with excellent time management.
- Proficiency in IT, including MS Office; familiarity with D365 and Planful is advantageous.
