Job description

We currently have an opportunity available for someone to join the Enabling Functions Finance team as a Financial controller supporting a number of our internal functions.

The suitable candidate will be an experienced accountant with a background of a large, complex organisation or a professional services firm.

They will be required to work closely with senior stakeholders within the functions and be responsible for the accuracy of the financial statements at month end close and year end. They should be comfortable conveying financial information to stakeholders across the firm outside the Enabling Functions leadership team.

This Manager role would suit an individual with strong communication, excel and analysis skills.

The role will predominantly a Hybrid role with some travel to London required. However, there maybe occasions to travel to other locations when required.

The role will be responsible for financial control of a number of enabling functions, notably Quality & Risk Services, Office of General Council, Firms Leadership and the central accounting area. All of these areas have differing cost drivers, and impact all of our UK offices.

Enabling Functions are Deloitte’s engine room and is made up of all the parts that are necessary in order to keep the firm running. The department is split into a number of key areas: People & Purpose, Technology & Digital Services, Clients & Industries, Finance, Real Estate, Central Business Services, Legal Services, Quality & Risk Services and Leadership.

Enabling Functions employees play a critical role by helping their internal stakeholders to be more efficient and focused on delivering a distinctive experience to their individual client groups.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maximise usage of Global Delivery Centre (GFS) - including management of their performance
  • Drive self service through operational management teams - utilising Service now and Deloitte’s global delivery network
  • Month end close on time with a high degree of accuracy to include:
    • Liaising with Business Finance team to ensure accuracy and challenge of Accruals / Prepayments
    • Work with Business finance on in month results reporting
    • Production of Estimates for Business Finance to use in Monthly reports
  • Balance sheet reconciliations (including review and approval of Excel templates and Blackline) providing full insight on balances and any risks
  • Management of 1 permanent member of staff and 1 indirect resource from the global delivery network
  • Liaise with other member firms to ensure that net balances are reconciled and fully agreed
  • Ensure that all financials are accounted for under appropriate accounting standards
  • Ensure that the firms control environment is fully adhered to
  • Standardisation of accounting processes where possible
  • Review and challenge all cost transfers as appropriate
  • Driving a strong Financial Control environment to comply with internal and external best practice

We would expect a successful candidate to have the following experience and qualifications:

  • Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent) with relevant experience.
  • Strong commercial experience with the ability to see beyond the confines of the traditional Finance area.
  • Demonstrates relationship management skills and ability to challenge and influence decision making among senior stakeholders.
  • Significant experience managing a large and complex set of stakeholders.
  • Excellent oral & written communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

Finance and Legal

We provide financial management and accounting support that is aligned to each area of Deloitte’s business as well as the leadership team. We prepare the statutory and regulatory reporting required for Deloitte LLP and several other areas, whilst our General Counsel provides legal advice to the Board, the Executive and the Managing Partners.
