Job summary

Job description

SquareWell Partners (“SquareWell”) is seeking to expand its advisory team to support its corporate and investor clients. Ideal candidates will have a management consultancy and/or research background in shareholder activism, corporate transactions, corporate governance, and/or sustainability. While performing their duties, this professional will work closely with senior management teams of clients, helping them develop their strategies on shareholder-related topics.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the “Advisor/Consultant – Strategy & Governance” include, but are not limited to, the following:

Client Engagement and Strategy

  • Conduct analyses of client challenges, messaging gaps, and corporate governance practices vis-à-vis the company’s ownership structure and market trends.
  • Develop and present company vulnerability assessments and shareholder engagement plans.
  • Draft presentations and memos that are board-ready on topics of interest to corporate clients.
  • Collect data and produce peer and best practice benchmark reports on selected topics (ranging from board practices to corporate transaction characteristics to compensation practices).
  • Manage day-to-day client engagements and provide governance advice to senior executives.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Mentor and guide analysts, fostering a learning culture.
  • Lead teams in creating supporting materials and analyses.
  • Leverage firm-wide expertise to solve client issues.

Business Development and Collaboration

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities.
  • Prepare and execute pitch meetings with potential clients.
  • Enhance the firm’s brand through thought leadership and market presence.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree with a strong academic record; MBA, JD, or equivalent preferred.
  • 3+ years in advising on governance, activism, strategy, or related fields.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Leadership qualities with a collaborative mindset.
  • Strong relationship management and organizational skills.
  • Innovative, motivated, and commercially-aware thinker.
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Proficient in English. Japanese, German, Spanish, Italian, French, and/or Dutch would be an advantage.

Requirement Process

  • There will likely be a large number of applications; as such, we may not be able to respond on an individual basis.
  • The recruitment process involves an initial screener questionnaire, a case study, two interviews (one in person).
  • SquareWell has adopted a hybrid work model where team members are expected to be in the office at least four days a week.
