Job summary

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service is seeking a Management Accountant to join the Finance and Procurement team. The role focuses on delivering effective financial accounting services for the Service, its partners and external bodies, interpreting financial regulations and providing analysis and guidance to support business goals.

The successful candidate will produce financial plans and budgets, monitor allocated areas, and liaise with cost centre managers, auditors and suppliers.

Qualifications

• University degree related to Finance; CCAB approved or AAT with CPD preferred.
• Public sector accounting experience is advantageous.
• Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-finance staff.

Responsibilities

• Produce financial plans and budgets and maintain, monitor & report on allocated areas of responsibility.
• Contribute to the financial management of revenue and capital budgets.
• Liaise with cost centre managers, internal and external auditors, contractors and suppliers of financial services.
• Provide financial advice to Government Departments and external bodies.
• Undertake monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
