Job summary

Michael Page is recruiting on behalf of a large North Yorkshire client. The role supports the preparation of management accounts, forecasts, cash reporting and financial analysis for the business, partnering with production and commercial teams to explain performance and risks.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified or part-qualified accountant with month-end, balance sheet reconciliations and VAT experience, with a collaborative approach and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Job description

This role is responsible for supporting the preparation of accurate and timely management accounts, forecasts, cash reporting and financial analysis for the business, and providing commercial business analysis to a variety of stakeholders.

Our client are a large organisation in North Yorkshire, market leading in their sector.

Description

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting the preparation and delivery of accurate financial reporting, including:
• Monthly management accounts and variance analysis
• Support Assistant Accountants in posting timesheets and review of recoveries posted
• Review of balance sheet control accounts
• Support fortnightly cash forecasting and reporting, particularly expenditure
• Preparation of monthly VAT return
• Completion of Office of National Statistic returns
• Preparation and submission of prompt payment reporting
• Support for the quarterly forecast and annual budget process
• Assist with annual statutory accounts and audit process
• Providing financial insight and challenge to operational and commercial teams, including explanation of contract performance, forecast movements and key variances
• Business partnering
• Weekly review of factory performance including analysis of timesheets, trend analysis and factory performance
• Ownership of forecasting, analysis and control of non-staff manufacturing overheads, working with the production teams to improve cost control
• Hours per tonne reports - production, analyse and interpret manufacturing performance as part of month end process
• Stock control, including month end stock allocation, stock takes and balance sheet reconciliation. Including review of ageing of stock
• Maintain and apply effective internal controls across the business, supporting continuous improvement in finance processes, reporting quality and data integrity.

Profile

The position will suit a qualified or part-qualified accountant who is comfortable working across both day-to-day transactional finance activities and month-end reporting, with the ability to analyse, interpret and clearly explain monthly results, variances to forecast and key financial risks and opportunities to finance and non-finance stakeholders.

Essential:

• Management or financial accounting experience.
• Experience of month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, forecasting and financial analysis.
• Ability to work effectively with production, operational and commercial teams to understand performance and support decision-making
