Job summary

Seymour John Ltd, a UK manufacturing SME based in Dudley, is seeking a proactive Management Accountant to join its finance team. The role offers direct exposure to the Finance Director, accountability for monthly management accounts, budgeting and forecasting, and influencing costing and performance across the business.

You will collaborate with operations, drive improvements, and support governance and reporting.

Qualifications

• Professional qualification in CIMA/ACCA/ACA (or finalist/experience).
• Experience in management accounting within manufacturing or similar environment.
• Strong reporting, forecasting and budgeting skills.
• Advanced Excel and systems literacy; data-driven problem solving.
• Experience supporting costing, stock and profitability analysis.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts with insightful analysis.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial planning across functions.
• Deliver variance analysis and identify risks/opportunities to improve performance.
• Maintain balance sheet integrity with reconciliations and controls.
• Partner with operations to enhance costing, stock management and margins.
• Support month-end/year-end reporting, audits and compliance.
• Produce KPI reporting to aid decision-making and efficiency.
• Identify process improvements to improve reporting accuracy and speed.
• Mentor a small finance team and contribute to capability building.

Management Accountant

Location: Dudley (On-site)
Salary: 50,000 - 55,000 + Benefits

The Opportunity

A well-established international manufacturing business is seeking a commercially minded Management Accountant, with strong manufacturing experience, to join its finance team in a highly visible role offering genuine progression opportunities.

Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you will play a key part in delivering robust financial information, supporting strategic decision-making, and driving operational performance across the business. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious finance professional looking to broaden their responsibilities and develop towards a future Finance Manager position.

Operating within a collaborative and supportive environment, you'll work closely with both finance and operational teams, gaining exposure to all areas of the business while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and long‑term growth plans.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts, providing meaningful analysis and insight
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities across multiple business functions
• Deliver detailed variance analysis, identifying trends, risks and opportunities to improve performance
• Maintain balance sheet integrity through regular reconciliations and strong financial controls
• Partner with operational teams to enhance costing, stock management and margin performance
• Support month-end and year-end reporting processes, including audit requirements and statutory compliance
• Produce KPI reporting to aid business decision-making and operational effectiveness
• Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen reporting accuracy and efficiency
• Assist in the development and mentoring of a small finance team

About You

You will be a proactive and commercially aware finance professional who enjoys operating within a manufacturing environment and building strong relationships across a business.

You will ideally have:

• CIMA, ACCA or ACA qualification (or Finalist or qualified by experience)
• Previous management accounting experience within manufacturing, engineering or a similar operational environment
• Strong experience of management reporting, forecasting, budgeting and financial analysis
• Excellent Excel and systems skills, with a data-driven approach to problem solving
• Experience supporting operational stakeholders with costing, stock and profitability analysis
• A continuous improvement mindset with the confidence to challenge and influence where appropriate
• Ambition to develop your career towards a Finance Manager position
