Job summary

Axon Moore is assisting a successful Wakefield-based manufacturing business to appoint an experienced Management Accountant. You will support financial reporting, operational performance and commercial decision-making, working closely with production teams and senior management to drive cost efficiencies and margin improvement.

The role offers a broad remit, with responsibilities spanning month-end, budgeting, forecasting and VAT reporting, underpinned by robust balance sheet control and KPI

Qualifications

• The candidate should be ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
• Experience in a management accounting role, preferably in manufacturing/production.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts with accurate reporting.
• Analyse performance and variance vs budgets/forecasts.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.
• Monitor costs, overheads and production expenditures for savings.
• Analyse inventory, stock valuation, WIP and production variances.
• Review gross margins and product profitability.
• Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and month-end processes.
• Support year-end accounts, audits and VAT reporting.
• Monitor cash flow and working capital to improve efficiency.
• Provide financial analysis and commercial insight to support decisions.
• Drive profitability improvements and enhance operational performance.

We're working with a successful and growing manufacturing business based in Wakefield that is looking to appoint an experienced Management Accountant to support financial reporting, operational performance and commercial decision-making.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional to work closely with operational teams and senior management, providing meaningful financial insight, improving cost efficiencies and supporting the continued growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Analyse financial performance, highlighting variances against budgets, forecasts and prior periods.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes.
• Monitor manufacturing costs, production expenditure and overheads to identify opportunities for cost savings.
• Analyse stock, inventory valuations, work in progress and production variances.
• Review gross margins, product profitability and cost performance.
• Work closely with production and operational teams to monitor KPIs, budgets and business performance.
• Maintain balance sheet reconciliations, including accruals, prepayments and fixed assets.
• Manage month-end processes, ensuring all financial information is complete and accurate.
• Support year-end accounts, audit requirements and VAT reporting.
• Monitor cash flow and working capital, helping to improve financial efficiency.
• Provide financial analysis and commercial insight to support business decisions.
• Identify opportunities to improve profitability, control costs and enhance operational performance.
• Improve financial reporting processes, systems and management information.

The Ideal Candidate

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified
• Experience in a management accounting role, ideally within a manufacturing or production environment.
