Job summary

Sureserve in Liverpool is seeking a Management Accountant to join the finance team, delivering high-quality financial information and supporting operational decision-making.

You will work with operational managers, departmental leaders, and senior stakeholders to provide meaningful financial analysis and reporting that shapes business strategy and supports key financial objectives. This is a varied role with exposure across the business and opportunities to build strong partnerships.

Qualifications

• Essential professional accounting qualification such as CIMA or ACCA.
• Experience in a Management Accountant, Assistant Management Accountant, Finance Business Partner, or similar finance role.
• Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and management reporting.
• Intermediate Excel skills and experience using financial systems advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage accrual revenue processes and revenue recognition calculations.
• Process payroll journals, prepare accruals and prepayments.
• Maintain balance sheet reconciliations for accurate reporting.
• Support budgeting and forecasting cycles.
• Conduct commercial reviews with management and provide ad hoc financial analysis.

About the role

We're looking for a Management Accountant to join our finance team to play a key role in delivering high-quality financial information, supporting operational decision-making, and driving financial performance across the organisation.

Working closely with operational managers, departmental leaders, and senior stakeholders, you'll provide meaningful financial analysis and reporting that helps shape business strategy and supports the achievement of key financial objectives. This is a varied role that offers excellent exposure across the business, giving you the opportunity to build strong relationships and become a trusted partner to both finance and operational teams.

What you'll be doing

Day to day, you'll be responsible for the management of accrued revenue processes, revenue recognition calculations, framework commission calculations, and the investigation of costs and revenue across individual contracts.

• Support the production of monthly management accounts
• Process payroll journals, prepare accruals and prepayments
• Maintain robust balance sheet reconciliations to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting
• Support the budgeting and forecasting cycle
• Undertake commercial reviews with management teams, and providing ad hoc financial analysis

What we're looking for

This post is ideal for someone who enjoys analysing financial data, identifying opportunities for improvement, and translating complex information into clear and actionable insights. You'll be confident building relationships with stakeholders at all levels and comfortable challenging and influencing where necessary to achieve the best outcomes for the business.

• Holds a professional accounting qualification such as CIMA, or ACCA, qualification (essential)
• Previous experience in a Management Accountant, Assistant Management Accountant, Finance Business Partner, or similar finance role
• A strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and management reporting
• Intermediate Excel skills and experience using financial systems will be highly advantageous

Salary: £55,000-£60,000 per annum

Location: Liverpool (L7 9NJ)

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Hours: 40 per week

Working pattern: 08:30-17:00

Holiday entitlement: 25 + Bank Holidays
