Job description

Role Purpose

Sorted is part of Huboo, a private equity-backed SaaS and logistics group operating across the UK, Spain, the Netherlands and the USA. With over 400 employees and a diverse customer base spanning e-commerce, health and wellness brands, and enterprise retail software clients, the group operates in a fast-paced and evolving environment.

We are seeking a Management Accountant to join the UK-based group finance team. Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, this role will support the delivery of monthly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, variance analysis, VAT and payroll processes, and group reporting across multiple entities. The successful candidate will also gain exposure to multi-currency accounting, statutory audit activities, and senior stakeholder engagement.

This is a hands-on opportunity for an experienced management accountant who can work independently, take ownership of a broad remit, and contribute to the development of junior team members. The role offers excellent exposure to group finance in a dynamic, high-growth environment and the opportunity to further develop both technical and commercial expertise.

Key Responsibilities
Core Management Accounting - larger, complex operating entities
  • Support month-end items prepared by the 2 Assistant Accountants for smaller operating entities.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for area(s) of ownership, resolving reconciling items on a timely basis.
  • Ensure revenue is reported accurately under IFRS 15 and investigation of discrepancies for Board reporting.
  • Prepare and maintain lease accounting schedules under IFRS 16, including lease liability and right-of-use asset calculations for all operating entities.
  • Post journal entries in line with month-end close deadlines (5 working days), with clear, well-evidenced supporting workings.
  • Assist with multi-currency transactions and support the Group Financial Controller with FX-related considerations across the group's entities, where relevant to area(s) of ownership.
  • Use Xero and Joiin to maintain accurate underlying data to support the group's month-end close and consolidation process.
Variance Analysis & Reporting
  • Investigate and explain month-on-month and budget-to-actual variances in costs and revenue for area(s) of ownership, providing clear, well-supported commentary to the Group Financial Controller for areas of preparation for monthly Board reporting.
  • Respond to ad hoc reporting and analysis requests from the Group Financial Controller, working independently to source and interpret the underlying data.
  • Support the wider team with data extraction and analysis to inform the monthly consolidated board pack.
Compliance, Payroll & Audit Support
  • Assist in responding to audit queries and information requests, preparing supporting schedules and documentation for the Group Financial Controller and external auditors ahead of and during the group's first-year statutory audit under UK GAAP.
  • Prepare VAT returns across relevant group entities, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
  • Assist with payroll preparation and processing support, liaising with in-country contacts and providers in Spain and the Netherlands, and across the group's UK and USA entities, where required.
Process & Controls
  • Apply core accounting principles accurately and consistently across all areas of responsibility.
  • Identify and flag process improvements, contributing to a more efficient and controlled month-end close.
  • Take ownership of assigned tasks without requiring close supervision, escalating technical or judgemental issues appropriately.
Other
  • Mentor and support in the development of junior members of the wider finance team.
Person Specification
Essential
  • Qualified (FQ) ACA, ACCA or CIMA (or equivalent), or strong QBE considered.
  • Proven experience in a similar management accounting role, ideally within a fast-paced or multi-entity environment.
  • Solid working knowledge of advanced accounting principles, including IFRS 15, IFRS 16 and transfer pricing.
  • Demonstrable experience investigating and explaining cost and revenue variances.
  • Confident using Excel for analysis and reporting; comfortable working with large data sets.
  • Able to work independently and take ownership of tasks with minimal coaching or supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical, well-organised approach to month-end deliverables.
  • Immediately available or on a short notice period.
Desirable
  • Experience operating within a group or consolidated reporting structure, ideally spanning multiple international entities.
  • Experience preparing VAT returns.
  • Exposure to payroll preparation or processing support.
  • Experience with Xero and/or Joiin, or similar accounting and consolidation software.
  • Exposure to stock/inventory-heavy or fulfilment-type businesses.
  • Prior involvement in external audit fieldwork or preparation, ideally including a first-year statutory audit.
  • Exposure to multi-currency transactions or international group structures.
  • Fluent in Spanish and/or Dutch.
Skills & Attributes
  • Self-starter who is comfortable being given a broad remit and getting on with it - not reliant on step-by-step coaching.
  • Genuinely keen to be challenged and to develop technically at pace within a growing group.
  • Strong communicator, able to present variance analysis and findings clearly to the Group Financial Controller, and wider company.
  • Comfortable working to tight month-end and audit deadlines in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Curious and proactive, with a willingness to question numbers and dig into the detail behind them.
  • Professional and credible, given the level of exposure to senior stakeholders within the business.
