Job summary

Kara Healthcare, based at our Head Office in Leicester, is seeking a commercially minded Management Accountant to join our finance team. You will deliver monthly management accounts, produce insightful reports, and partner with senior leaders to improve financial performance across our care services.

The role offers ownership of budgeting, forecasts and variance analysis with opportunities to grow within a growing healthcare organisation.

Qualifications

• Qualified or part-qualified accountant with real numbers focus.
• Active progress towards ACCA/CIMA/ACA.
• Strong budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis experience.
• Experience in healthcare or multi-site organisations is a plus.
• Excellent Excel skills and data interpretation ability.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Support month-end and year-end processes.
• Provide detailed analysis of income, expenditure and performance.
• Prepare budgets, forecasts and variance analysis.
• Investigate variances with operational teams.
• Support budgets across care homes and departments.
• Provide financial insight to managers and senior leadership.
• Assist with cash flow forecasting and planning.
• Support payables/receivables as needed.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies.

What You'll Be Doing

As Management Accountant, you'll work closely with the Finance and Senior Leadership teams to provide accurate financial information and support the day-to-day running of the business.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Supporting month-end and year-end processes.
• Producing detailed analysis of income, expenditure, and financial performance.
• Preparing budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
• Investigating significant variances and working with teams to understand the reasons behind them.
• Supporting the preparation and monitoring of budgets across our care homes and departments.
• Providing financial information and insight to managers and senior leadership.
• Assisting with cash flow forecasting and financial planning.
• Supporting the accounts payable and accounts receivable processes where required.
• Ensuring financial records are accurate, complete, and maintained appropriately.
• Reconciling balance sheet accounts and investigating discrepancies.
• Supporting audit processes and providing information when required.
• Helping to improve financial processes, systems, and reporting.
• Working with operational teams to help them understand and manage their financial performance.
• Providing ad-hoc financial analysis and support to the wider business.
• Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and financial performance.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is confident with numbers, pays attention to detail, and can explain financial information clearly to people who aren't accountants.

You'll ideally have:

• Experience working in a management accounting or similar finance role.
• A relevant accounting qualification or be actively working towards one, such as ACCA, CIMA, or ACA.
• Strong understanding of management accounts and financial reporting.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Excellent Excel skills and confidence working with financial data.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to manage deadlines and prioritise your workload.
• Good communication skills and the confidence to work with colleagues across different areas of the business.
• A practical and commercially minded approach.
• The ability to work independently while also being part of a wider finance team.

Experience within healthcare, social care, or another multi-site organisation would be advantageous but is not essential.
