Job summary

A leading company in resource recovery is seeking a fully qualified accountant to join their finance team in Leeds. The role involves accounting for operating expenditures, resolving queries, and presenting monthly financial results. Qualifications

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
  • Experience in industry & commerce is preferable.
  • Strong Excel skills and ability to resolve queries.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Finance Manager in accounting for operating expenditure.
  • Ensure correct recording of intercompany transactions.
  • Present monthly results to the Finance Manager.

About The Role

Location - Leeds - Gelderd Road - Hybrid working 3 days in office

Purpose
  • To provide accurate and timely accounting and reporting for operating expenditure in Associated Waste Management Ltd
Responsibilities
  • Assist the Finance Manager in accounting for operating expenditure, including ownership of certain P&L lines and supporting others
  • Ensure correct recording of intercompany transactions, leveraging knowledge of UK business operations
  • Review costs and explain variances to budget and KPIs
  • Investigate and resolve queries and discrepancies, collaborating with the wider finance team
  • Interrogate systems (SAGE / Workday) to ensure accurate reporting
  • Ensure robust accounting of accruals and prepayments on the balance sheet
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure a "right-first-time" approach with purchase orders and invoicing
  • Present monthly results to the Finance Manager and FC
  • Assist with the annual budget and external audit related to operating expenses
  • Support the embedding of the new ERP system
