Job summary

KPI Recruiting Ltd is representing a client seeking a motivated Management Accountant in Stoke on Trent. You will prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts, deliver P&L and balance sheet reports, and provide financial insights to support business decisions.

You'll work closely with Client Managers and Directors, using Xero and cloud-based accounting tools, applying strong Excel skills and a proactive, detail-focused approach to improve reporting processes and client service.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of accruals, prepayments and reconciliations.
• Experience using Xero and cloud accounting software.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts for a portfolio of clients.
• Produce profit & loss reports, balance sheets and supporting schedules.
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations including bank, VAT, payroll, accruals and prepayments.
• Investigate variances, identify trends and highlight areas of concern or opportunity.
• Review accounting records to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Prepare clear and meaningful financial reports for clients.
• Liaise with clients to resolve queries and gather information.
• Build client relationships and understand their businesses.
• Collaborate with Client Managers, Directors and Cloud Accounting team.
• Support improvements to bookkeeping and financial reporting processes.
• Use Xero and cloud accounting systems to deliver accurate reporting.

Are you an experienced Management Accountant looking for a varied role where you can make a real impact? We are seeking a proactive and detail-focused professional to join our clients growing team, supporting a diverse portfolio of clients across multiple sectors.

Working closely with Client Managers and Directors, you'll prepare accurate management accounts, provide valuable financial insights, and help business owners make informed decisions to drive their businesses forward.

The Role

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparing monthly and quarterly management accounts for a portfolio of clients
• Producing profit & loss reports, balance sheets and supporting schedules
• Completing balance sheet reconciliations including bank, VAT, payroll, accruals and prepayments
• Investigating variances, identifying trends and highlighting areas of concern or opportunity
• Reviewing accounting records to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Preparing clear and meaningful financial reports for clients
• Liaising directly with clients to resolve queries and gather information
• Building strong client relationships and developing an understanding of their businesses
• Working collaboratively with Client Managers, Directors and the Cloud Accounting team
• Supporting improvements to bookkeeping and financial reporting processes
• Using Xero and cloud-based accounting systems to deliver accurate reporting

About You

We're looking for someone who enjoys working with a range of businesses and can confidently manage multiple deadlines.

You'll ideally have:

• Experience preparing management accounts within an accountancy practice or commercial finance environment
• Strong understanding of management accounting principles, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations
• Experience using Xero and other cloud accounting software
• Strong Excel and analytical skills
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
• Confident communication skills with both colleagues and clients
• A proactive, organised approach to managing workloads

Desirable

• AAT qualified, part-qualified ACCA/ACA/CIMA or qualified by experience
