Job summary

Sharp Consultancy is seeking a driven Management Accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA Part-Qualified or qualified) to join a growing finance function within the construction sector in Bradford. You will gain broad exposure across projects and build experience while pursuing professional qualifications.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will prepare monthly management accounts, support budgeting and project costing, post journals, and assist with month-end and year-end close.

Qualifications

• Part-qualified or qualified in CIMA/ACCA/ACA.
• Experience in management accounts and financial reporting.
• Construction, engineering, contracting or project-based experience is advantageous.
• Able to work with project managers and commercial teams.
• Eligible to work in the UK full time without restriction.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and support financial reporting across multiple construction projects.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.
• Assist budgeting, forecasting and project costing activities.
• Prepare and post journals, accruals and prepayments on time.
• Support month-end and year-end close procedures.
• Produce financial reports and analyse project performance for commercial decisions.
• Monitor project profitability, costs and performance against budget; highlight risks and opportunities.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with procedures and regulations.
• Support audits and provide information to internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and wider teams to improve controls.

Job description

This is an excellent opportunity within the construction industry for a driven CIMA/ACCA/ACA Part-Qualified or qualified accountant to join a growing finance function. As the Management Accountant, you will report directly to the Finance Manager and gain broad exposure across multiple projects and areas of the business. Key responsibilities of the role will include, but are not limited to:

• Preparing monthly management accounts and supporting financial reporting across multiple construction projects and business units
• Performing balance sheet reconciliations and investigating any variances or discrepancies identified
• Supporting budgeting and forecasting activities, including project costing, labour analysis, subcontractor costs, and overhead expenditure
• Preparing and posting journals, accruals, and prepayments accurately and within deadlines
• Assisting with month-end and year-end close procedures
• Producing financial reports and analysing project and business performance to support operational and commercial decision-making
• Monitoring project profitability, costs, and performance against budget, highlighting risks and opportunities to management
• Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with company procedures and industry regulations
• Supporting audits and providing information requested by internal and external stakeholders
• Working closely with Project Managers, Commercial Managers, and wider operational teams to improve financial controls and reporting processes
• Providing ad hoc support to the Finance Manager and wider finance team as required

The successful candidate will ideally be qualified or studying towards a CIMA/ACCA qualification, with previous experience within a Management Accounts.
