Job summary

Virgin Experience Days Ltd is seeking a Management Accountant to join our Finance team. The role focuses on driving monthly reporting, variance analysis and internal department business partnering.

You will work in a lean, collaborative environment with a hands-on approach to core financial operations. The position is full-time and hybrid, requiring a minimum of two days in the Bourne End office (Buckinghamshire).

Qualifications

  • Qualified or studying towards CIMA/ACCA/ACA or equivalent.
  • Proven track record in a finance role with month-end duties and variance reporting.
  • Experience with month-end close processes and balance sheet reconciliations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation and delivery of monthly management accounts for Virgin Experience Days (UK).
  • Own P&L overhead cost schedules and variance analysis.
  • Prepare month-end balance sheet reconciliations including accruals/prepayments/provisions.
  • Support financial operations including reporting, cashflow control and stock control.
  • Prepare quarterly royalty returns for review and submission.
  • Participate in annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes.
  • Support the year-end audit process.
  • Partner with internal heads for ad-hoc financial reporting and commercial analysis.
  • Support wider Finance team with ad hoc reporting and project work.
  • Process supplier invoices within 30-day terms and run weekly payments.

Management Accountant

The Finance team support, advise and allow the business to thrive. About the role

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a solid finance foundation who is looking to develop their management accounting skills within a supportive and collaborative environment.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will play a central role in driving monthly reporting, variance analysis, and internal department business partnering. Work as part of a lean and supportive team, you’ll also maintain a hands‑on approach across core financial operations.

This is a full-time, hybrid role, with a minimum of 2 days office based per week. Our office is located in Bourne End (Buckinghamshire, SL8 5YS).


What you'll do:
  • Lead the preparation and delivery of accurate, timely monthly management accounts for Virgin Experience Days (UK).

  • Own and manage the P&L overhead cost schedules, conducting detailed variance analysis (Actuals vs. Budget/Forecast) and investigating discrepancies.

  • Prepare and review comprehensive month-end balance sheet reconciliations, including accruals, prepayments, and provisions.

  • Support financial operations, including reporting, provisions, cashflow control, and stock control.

  • Prepare quarterly royalty returns for review and submission.

  • Active participation in the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes.

  • Support with the year-end audit process.

  • Business partner with internal department heads to provide ad-hoc financial reporting, commercial analysis, and decision-support insights.

  • Support the wider Finance team with ad hoc reporting, analysis and project work.

  • Process supplier invoices in line with company’s 30-day payment terms.

  • Prepare and process weekly payment runs for Virgin Experience Days (UK).

  • Monitor and respond to supplier queries, escalating issues where appropriate.


What you'll need:
  • Qualified or Studying towards CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent.

  • Proven track record in a similar finance role, with practical experience in core month-end duties and variance reporting.

  • Proven hands‑on experience in month-end close processes, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analysis.

  • Prior experience using ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 is desirable).

  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to communicate financial results clearly to non-finance stakeholders.

  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a proven track record of meeting strict month-end deadlines.

  • The ability to work collaboratively within a small, supportive team.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
