PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Pre-Sales Consultant works within the managed services team and is the subject matter expert for HSO’s managed services. The individual will use their understanding of business needs in a managed service environment to support account managers with the positioning and sale of solutions and services in order to achieve customer value goals along with HSO revenue goals. The role demands an understanding of Microsoft technologies and extensive knowledge of working in a managed service environment. The successful candidate will have experience in creation and completion of extensive cost models and support contracts.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The opportunity on offer is somewhat special. You will be joining a mature business unit with exciting ambitions and you will be part of the team that leads on a drive to grow the HSO managed service business through pre-sales efforts across all of our service lines. This role will have input on how we create better cost models, service offerings, efficiencies in the pre-sales process and be a driving force behind putting the customer at the centre of everything that we do.

REPORTING LINE

As part of the MS Service Delivery and Pre-Sales team, the Pre-Sales Consultant reports to the head of MS Service Delivery and Pre-Sales alongside the MS pre-sales team as well as the wider HS Sales Executives and Account Managers.

JOB FUNCTION

  • Perform detailed managed service discovery working with customer in order to set solution strategy and design for the outsourcing of services to HSO
  • Articulate the proposed MS solution and the benefits to the client at all levels including the use of any other HSO Geo’s or third parties where applicable
  • Assist with account development, bids and campaign strategy for managed services
  • Gain client credibility as the subject matter expert for HSO managed services
  • Engage at both a detailed level as well as at executive level to drive out business requirements and demand
  • Responsible for the creation of Managed Services cost models
  • Lead on creation of customer facing support contract and service descriptions
  • Work with the UK and Global Managed Service team to improve services, processes and cost models
  • Work with the appropriate internal resources through all HSO service lines to ensure the optimum MS solution is proposed
  • Build, maintain and develop client relationships
  • Work with third parties as applicable
  • Maintain an understanding and knowledge of the competition

Requirements

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Either a demonstrable and successful track record in pre-sales or consultancy in a managed service environment
  • Solid and broad understanding of providing outsourcing services
  • Although not essential, knowledge of Service Management and ITIL would be an advantage
  • Ability to identify and act on potential business opportunities
  • Good understanding of the sales process
  • Experience of presenting at all levels
  • Experience in building and owning cost models for large managed service deals
  • Experience in contract negotiations and creation of managed service contracts

Location

The HSO offices are in Manchester, Glasgow, and Reading but the individual can be based anywhere on mainland UK – and must be prepared to travel to client sites and to the relevant offices for client meetings and training when required.
