The Park Centre for Breast Care in Brighton, part of University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust, is recruiting a Mammographer for a full-time Band 7 post. You will join a specialist service delivering high-quality breast imaging and patient care across mobile and static sites.
There are training pathways for UK-qualified radiographers to progress from Band 5 Trainee Mammographer to Band 6 and ultimately Band 7, with opportunities for Mammography Associate training.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Mammographer to join our team at The Park Centre for Breast Care in Brighton. This is a full-time, permanent Band 7 post, offering the opportunity to contribute to high-quality breast imaging and patient care within a specialist service.
We also welcome applications from UK-qualified, state-registered radiographers who wish to train in mammography. Successful applicants would join as a Band 5 Trainee Mammographer, progressing to Band 6 on successful completion of the Postgraduate Certificate in Mammography. Progression to Band 7 would follow one year of post-qualification clinical experience, subject to meeting the requirements of the senior role and taking on additional responsibilities.
We welcome applications for training posts, including Mammography Associate training opportunities. These follow a separate training pathway, with appointment and progression appropriate to the role and qualification.
Working hours are Monday to Friday, 08:30–17:00, with a one-hour lunch break. Voluntary weekend overtime may be available when required.
The successful applicant will join the mammography multidisciplinary team within the East Sussex, Brighton and Hove Breast Screening Service, delivering high-quality imaging across mobile and static sites in line with NHS Breast Screening Programme standards. They will also provide imaging and patient care within the Symptomatic Breast Service across Brighton and East Sussex.
Working with radiologists and Advanced Practitioners, they will position, image and support patients during interventional procedures, ensuring comfort, dignity and safety.
They will provide compassionate, person-centred care, communicating clearly and sensitively with patients, clients, families and carers. They will offer information and reassurance, adapting their approach to individual needs and supporting equitable access to care.
Reflecting the Trust’s Behavioural Compass, they will demonstrate kindness, respect and accountability, value different perspectives and foster an inclusive team. As a senior mammographer, they will lead by example, share knowledge, support colleagues’ development and contribute to improvements in quality and patient experience.
The role requires attention to detail, sound professional judgement and effective time management. They will prioritise busy workloads, respond calmly to changing demands and raise concerns promptly while maintaining high standards of imaging and care.
