Penderels Trust is seeking a Personal Assistant to support a friendly, active child with ASD and speech and language needs in Leamington Spa. The role involves enabling participation in community activities, outdoor play, and sensory-based experiences, with emphasis on personal care and safety.

A Personal Assistant is required to support a friendly and active child with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and speech and language needs. There are a multimodal communicator and uses some limited Makaton signing. He enjoys a range of activities including building train tracks, fitting number mats together, completing puzzles, and looking at books. They also responds well to sensory-based activities, particularly using a peanut ball and other activities that help meet his sensory needs. Main Duties Support to access and enjoy community activities. Encourage participation in outdoor play, visits to parks, shops, and soft play centres. Engage them in activities that reflect his interests and support his development. Provide opportunities for sensory-based play and activities. Offer gentle encouragement and reminders regarding personal care, including toileting and handwashing. Promote independence, confidence, and social engagement in a safe and supportive manner. The ideal candidate will: Be patient, caring, and reliable. Have an understanding of autism and communication differences. Be able to build a positive and trusting relationship. Be enthusiastic about supporting children to access community activities and develop independence. Experience of Makaton, autism, or working with children with additional needs would be beneficial, although not essential. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a positive difference to a young person's wellbeing, confidence, and enjoyment of community activities.

The individuals needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.
You have a responsibility as an employee to report all accidents to the employer immediately. You have a duty to report defects and / or hazards which may give rise to an accident. You are to ensure the safety of the individual at all times.
Due to the nature of the work for which you are applying, this post is subject to a satisfactory DBS disclosure (costs will be covered).
Transport Requirement
Car driver and car owner – must have business insurance.
