Job description

A non-verbal young boy with autism, ADHD, and severe learning disabilities is looking for a Personal Assistant (PA) who is fun, energetic, and confident. The ideal PA will support him in accessing the community, developing life skills, encouraging independence, and building social interaction skills. The role involves helping him become more comfortable and familiar with community settings while ensuring activities are enjoyable, engaging, and tailored to his individual needs and interests. He is a very loving and affectionate young boy who enjoys showing his happiness and affection to those around him. He loves giving cuddles and will often seek close contact, sometimes invading personal space as a way of expressing himself. He will point and lead you to something he wants as a form of communication. He is also very energetic and hyperactive, with no awareness of danger, so he requires close supervision when out in the community. When he is happy—which is most of the time—he expresses his excitement through loud vocalisations, hand flapping, and other stimming behaviours. He may also throw small objects and run up and down enthusiastically when excited. The right PA will need to be understanding of these behaviours, able to support him safely, and willing to join in with his enthusiasm while helping him develop appropriate boundaries and life skills in a positive and supportive way.
