Makaton Teaching Assistant

110 - 130 pay per day

Remedy is recruiting for a dedicated Teaching Assistant with Makaton training or experience. This role involves working 1:1 with a pupil with speech, language, and communication needs. The pupil communicates using bespoke resources and Makaton signs, making Makaton experience an essential requirement for this role.

Makaton Teaching Assistant Responsibilities

• Have excellent communication skills.
• Build strong relationships with students and staff.
• Provide encouragement and support to aid development.
• Maintain a positive and caring attitude towards children's learning and progress.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of the student at all times.

Makaton Teaching Assistant Job Specification

• Provide one-to-one learning support for a pupil with communication needs.
• Assist with the development of individual education and behaviour plans, setting achievable goals for the pupil.
• Build trusting relationships with the pupil and adapt your support to meet their individual needs.
• Work collaboratively with the SENDCo and Class Teacher to ensure effective provision.
• Encourage the pupil to engage in class activities and develop their communication skills.

Makaton Teaching Assistant Person Specification

• A good understanding of the EYFS or primary curriculum.
• Makaton training and/or relevant experience supporting children with communication needs.
