Position: Major Donor Manager
Salary: £42,000 per annum
Location: Remote within the UK, with optional access to offices in Cornwall or London
Hours: Full-time, with flexible working requests considered
Contract: Permanent
Closing date: Friday 13th November – please note we may close this role early if a suitable candidate is found.

About the role

Joining an international environmental charity at the start of a new five-year strategy, you will grow major donor income by building relationships with high-net-worth individuals and philanthropic supporters across the UK, US and internationally.

You will manage a portfolio of existing donors and new prospects, taking ownership of the full donor journey, from identifying opportunities and arranging introductions to making significant asks and providing personalised stewardship.

Working closely with the Partnerships and Philanthropy Senior Manager, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing a strong pipeline through research, referrals, networks and events.
  • Building meaningful relationships through meetings, tailored engagement and compelling proposals.
  • Securing five- and six-figure gifts, including multi-year commitments.
  • Providing thoughtful stewardship that connects donors with the impact of their support.
  • Working with colleagues, senior leaders and trustees to strengthen donor relationships.
  • Managing due diligence, accurate CRM records, income forecasts and progress against targets.

This is an opportunity to shape a growing major giving programme and secure the long-term funding that helps communities protect rainforest on their own terms.

About you

You will be a confident relationship builder with a track record of personally securing five and six figure gifts from individuals.

You will bring:

  • Experience of finding and developing new donor relationships, alongside managing existing supporters.
  • Confidence in asking for significant gifts and multi-year support.
  • Strong writing skills and the ability to produce persuasive, tailored proposals.
  • Experience of managing donor portfolios, pipelines and income forecasts.
  • Sound ethical judgement when researching donors and handling sensitive relationships.
  • The ability to collaborate across teams and involve senior stakeholders in fundraising.

Above all, you will respect the leadership of Indigenous peoples and local communities and share a commitment to protecting rainforest. Experience with US or international donors would be welcome.

About the organisation

The charity backs Indigenous peoples and local communities who are protecting rainforest, putting more resources and decision-making power directly into their hands.

You will join a close, collaborative organisation with an international footprint and a commitment to community-led change.

Applications are welcomed from people of all backgrounds. Reasonable adjustments are available throughout recruitment. Employment is subject to satisfactory references and appropriate screening checks.

Other roles you may have experience of could include Major Gifts Manager, Philanthropy Manager, Major Donor Fundraiser, Philanthropy Fundraiser, Major Giving Manager or High Value Relationships Manager.
