Job Description

TXM Recruit is seeking Mechanical and Electrical Technicians for a leading train manufacturer and maintenance company in the UK. Candidates from a rolling stock, REME, vehicle, or aircraft (avionics) background with advanced mechanical engineering experience are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Disconnecting underframe equipment such as water tanks, exhausts, and couplers
  2. Removing bogies
  3. Dismantling and reassembling train front ends, body panels, and support frames
  4. Understanding engineering drawings and procedures
  5. Performing scheduled maintenance on rolling stock according to maintenance instructions
  6. Supporting maintenance activities and train delivery processes
  7. Participating in continuous improvement initiatives
  8. Supporting testing, fault diagnosis, repairs, and safety procedures
  9. Attending testing locations, main line stations, and outstations for maintenance activities
  10. Utilizing modern fault-finding techniques and diagnostics
  11. Reading electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical schematics
  12. Using maintenance management systems for trend analysis and modifications
Qualifications and Skills:
  • NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Experience in rail maintenance or related industries such as RAF, Army, or Navy
  • Intermediate IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Good communication skills
Additional Information:

Shifts are Monday to Friday, with day and night options, plus weekends with uplift. The contract duration is 6 months or more. A two-week training program is provided. The hourly pay rate is £33.12 during the day and £35.83 at night, with overtime paid at £37/hour for hours over 40, inside IR35 (umbrella or PAYE required).
