The Role

As a Maintenance Technician (Electrical), you’ll play a key role in maintaining the operational availability, safety and reliability of critical site infrastructure within a secure defence environment.

Day‑to‑day, you’ll be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance, fault finding and reactive repairs across a range of electrical systems and building services equipment. This is a predominantly electrical role, supporting the maintenance of lighting, power distribution, sockets and electrical infrastructure across the site. You’ll spend much of your time out on site inspecting, testing, fault finding and repairing equipment, while also having the opportunity to develop additional skills through training on systems such as fire alarms and air conditioning equipment.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Carrying out planned and reactive electrical maintenance across site facilities and infrastructure
  • Diagnosing faults and completing repairs to electrical systems, lighting circuits, power supplies and associated equipment
  • Undertaking inspection, testing and maintenance activities in accordance with site procedures and statutory requirements
  • Supporting the maintenance of building services systems including fire alarms and HVAC equipment
  • Ensuring all work is completed safely and in compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements
  • Working collaboratively with the wider Estates and Maintenance team to support business operations
Essential experience
  • Proven experience carrying out electrical maintenance, fault finding and repairs
  • Experience within facilities management, manufacturing, industrial, defence or building services environments
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems including lighting, power and distribution equipment
  • Experience delivering planned preventative and reactive maintenance activities
  • Ability to work independently whilst managing competing priorities
  • Full UK driving licence

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Eskmeals site. Set working times are 7:30am – 4:30pm Monday to Thursday and 7:30am – 12:30pm Friday. This is a fully site‑based role with no shift pattern.

Full training will be provided on site‑specific systems and equipment. Opportunities to develop through Authorised Person (AP) qualifications and additional technical training. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites may occasionally be required.

Located on the Cumbrian coastline, the Eskmeals site supports a range of critical defence and technology programmes. The site combines specialist infrastructure, engineering expertise and operational support services to help deliver innovative solutions for national security and defence customers.
