Job summary

QinetiQ Limited in Kyle of Lochalsh, Scotland, is recruiting an Electrical Services Engineer for the BUTEC sites at Kyle of Lochalsh and Applecross. This permanent, full-time role is 37 hours per week, focused on electrical and mechanical building services maintenance, installations, and preventive work.

You will maintain site services and equipment, manage on-site contractors, and uphold health, safety, and environmental procedures while coordinating with internal and external customers.

Qualifications

• Time-served in electrical discipline with appropriate qualification
• Full UK driving licence
• Experience in planned maintenance to standards such as SFG20

Responsibilities

• Provide estate and equipment maintenance support across two sites, focusing on electrical elements
• Prioritise work programme to satisfy business needs
• Be part of the on-call rota within the Maintenance Team
• Ensure health, safety & environmental procedures are applied
• Ensure maintenance standards and quality of work delivered are to the required level
• Oversee contractors on site; monitor task implementation and SLA performance

The Role

As a member of the Estates Delivery discipline within UK Defence Operations, the Electrical Services Engineer role will be bias to an electrical specialisation but will be expected to deliver both Electrical & Mechanical aspects of building services, undertaking pre-preventive maintenance, repair, and reactive tasks.

Day-to-day, you will provide maintenance support (including installations; planned, preventive & corrective maintenance) in relation to site services, plant / equipment & buildings.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Provide estate and equipment maintenance support across the two sites, mainly focussed on electrical elements but also across other areas and disciplines
• Prioritisation of work programme to satisfy business needs according to need
• Form part of the on-call rota within the Maintenance Team
• Ensure robust application of health, safety & environmental procedures & processes
• Ensure maintenance standards and quality of work delivered are to the required level
• Oversee the conduct of contractors on site; monitoring the implementation & performance of tasks allocated, including SLA dependencies

Essential experience of the Electrical Services Engineer:

• Proven experience as a Mechanical & Electrical Maintenance Engineer
• Proficient in fault finding and diagnostic abilities on components
• Experience in planned maintenance to SFG20 standards
• Demonstrable skills in dealing and working closely with internal and external customers and suppliers on complex and interrelated issues on an ongoing basis
• Must be able to demonstrate a full and thorough understanding of operational health & safety and safe working practises
• Understanding of Service Level Agreements (SLAs), service targets, objectives, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Essential qualifications for the Electrical Services Engineer:

• The ideal candidate will be time served and have the relevant C&G, BTEC level 3, ONC/OND or NVQ level 3 within electrical discipline
• Full & clean (UK) valid driving license

BUTEC (British Underwater Test & Evaluation Centre) is a specialised facility focused on underwater testing and evaluation.
