Job summary

NHS Property Services is seeking a proactive Maintenance Technician - Electrical to cover a mobile patch across Wiltshire, based from Chippenham Community Hospital. You will perform planned and reactive electrical work, including emergency lighting testing and fault finding, while ensuring safety and compliance.

The role requires a qualified electrician with a full UK driving licence, capable of working independently across multiple NHS sites and liaising with teams to keep services fully

Qualifications

  • Experience in electrical installation and/or maintenance.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Ability to work independently across a mobile patch.
  • Experience in commercial or healthcare environments.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive electrical works across NHS sites.
  • Carry out emergency lighting testing, inspections, and repairs.
  • Undertake electrical fault finding, repairs, and minor installation works.
  • Respond to maintenance requests and make safe issues in line with SLAs.
  • Support basic fabric or plumbing-related tasks where required.
  • Maintain records using CAFM or relevant systems.
  • Participate in on-call rota and respond to out-of-hours issues.

We now have an exciting opportunity for a skilled and proactive Maintenance Technician - Electrical professional to join our team. This is a fantastic role for someone who enjoys working independently across a varied portfolio, delivering essential maintenance services that directly support NHS colleagues and patient care.

About the Role

As a Maintenance Technician - Electrical you will play a key role in delivering planned and reactive maintenance across a portfolio of healthcare properties. Based from Chippenham Community Hospital you will cover a regional patch across Wiltshire.

Your core focus will be electrical maintenance, including emergency lighting testing, general electrical repairs, and small works, ensuring all assets remain safe, compliant, and fully operational. You will also be expected to respond to a range of maintenance issues, making safe and supporting wider estates activities where required to meet service level agreements.

This is a mobile role, with a company van and tools provided, and includes participation in an on-call rota.

Who You Are

You are a qualified and reliable electrician who takes pride in delivering a high standard of work. You are adaptable, practical, and comfortable working across multiple sites, often independently.

You bring a proactive approach, strong problem-solving skills, and a willingness to support beyond your core trade when needed to ensure services are maintained safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all work is completed in line with health, safety, and compliance standards
  • Maintain accurate records using CAFM or relevant systems
  • Participate in the on-call rota and respond to out-of-hours issues where required
  • Can handle routine tasks and social interactions within a work environment. Ability to absorb policy and guidance necessary for the role.
  • Must be willing to undertake electrical authorised person duties
What You Will Bring
  • Experience in electrical installation and/or maintenance
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Ability to work independently across a mobile patch
  • A flexible, team-focused approach with strong communication skills
  • Experience working in commercial or healthcare environments
  • Experience using CAFM or workflow management systems
Where You'll Be

This is a full-time, permanent role, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8am-4.30pm based from Chippenham Community hospital with travel across Wiltshire

Desired Skills and Experience
  • BTEC City & Guilds plus relevant experience and training.
  • Hold level 3 NVQ or equivalent in Electrical Install or Electrical Maintenance.
  • Formal apprenticeship or craft trained and registered Approved Electrician.
  • Current qualification to the latest standard of BS 7671 City& Guilds (Latest edition).
  • Full UK Driving License.
