Job description

What will I be doing as a Maintenance Technician?

You’ll use your skills to maintain electrical and diagnostic equipment, making sure health and safety is the priority. To ensure maximum availability of equipment, you will run a preventative maintenance and cleaning program whilst ensuring that best practices are applied.

What are the requirements?

In terms of qualifications, you’ll need an ONC/NVQ (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering and the current 18th edition wiring regulations certification. A Health & Safety qualification (e.g. IOSH/NEBOSH) would be helpful but isn’t essential, as this can be gained.

It’s more important that you have worked in a maintenance role in a similar operation and dealt with continuous production. Thanks to this background, you’ll know about electric motors and conveyor systems. In terms of your qualities, you’ll need to be focused on customer service, teamwork, and organization. After all, you’ll be maintaining accurate records, building relationships with colleagues, and resolving queries whenever required. Above all, you need to be comfortable working under pressure and quick to respond to breakdowns.
