Job summary

Bimplus is recruiting a Summer Maintenance Operative to support a leading student accommodation provider during the crucial summer turnaround period in Edinburgh. The role focuses on hands-on maintenance to prepare rooms and communal areas for the new academic year and summer guests.

Ideal candidates will have experience in residential maintenance or trades, a practical approach, and good communication. The position runs 17 Aug 2026 to 11 Sep 2026, 40 hours weekly, paid weekly via PAYE.

Qualifications

• Experience in residential maintenance, facilities, or trade such as plumbing or carpentry.
• Practical, hands-on approach with attention to detail.
• Good communication skills and professional manner.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance and repairs across the site.
• Assist with room refreshes and preparation for new residents.
• Support move-in activities, including occasional heavy lifting.
• Complete basic plumbing, painting and decorating tasks.
• Undertake paint work and replacements.
• Perform routine safety checks and ensure health and safety compliance.
• Collaborate with the Maintenance Technician team and site staff.
• Contribute to a positive experience for residents and guests.

• Undertake paint work, mastic work and replacements
• Perform routine safety checks and ensure compliance with health and safety standards
• Work collaboratively with the Maintenance Technician team and wider site staff
• Help deliver a positive experience for residents and guests

About You

• Previous experience in residential maintenance, facilities, property maintenance or a trade such as plumbing or carpentry
• Practical, hands-on approach with good attention to detail
• Positive attitude and strong team-working skills
• Flexible and proactive, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities
• Good communication skills and a professional manner
• Trade qualifications are advantageous but not essential
