Job summary

Nijhuis Saur Industries UK & Ireland is seeking a skilled technician to operate and maintain wastewater treatment plant processes at our Scarborough site. You will work within QHSE systems, perform basic repairs, and carry out lab analysis with training provided.

You will develop strong relationships with client personnel and internal teams, share responsibility for plant logs, and proactively address issues to keep the plant running at optimum performance.

Qualifications

• Ability to complete basic repairs and maintenance on process equipment.
• Working knowledge of running electro-mechanical plant.
• Computer literate and able to operate standard software.
• Ability to work on own or as part of a team and under pressure.
• Proactive attitude and effective task management.

Responsibilities

• Work within the client and Company QHSE systems.
• Carry out lab analysis when required (training provided).
• Identify and report HSE issues at all levels.
• Establish professional relationships with customer personnel and staff.
• Lead by example and take on additional responsibilities as required.
• Maintain plant logs and understand WWTP operation on site.
• Carry out laboratory water analysis and report deviations to Site Management.

Job description

Duties And Responsibilities

• Work within the client and Company Quality, Health & Safety & Environment (QHSE) systems
• Carry out lab analysis when required using laboratory equipment (training provided)
• Visible ownership on HSE issues at all levels both in the client organisation and internally.
• Promptly raise any issues which could affect both the client and internally.
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with customer personnel, Company employees and sub-contractor staff.
• Innovate in the workplace to deliver Continuous improvement and exploit opportunities.
• Identity faults, identify solutions & carry out repairs.
• Gather all systems information and complete plant logs to understand the function and operation of the WWTP on site.
• Carry out laboratory water analysis and promptly report any deviations to Site Management and Technical Team
• Utilising plant information, identify any changes in system performance and/or potential operational problems and evaluate and make initial recommendations to return plant to its optimum operating condition.
• Development and maintenance of good housekeeping practices
• To work unsupervised with a proactive attitude
• Develop good team working behaviours with the client and other Company staff
• Undergo training as required and identify training needs
• Lead by example
• Take on additional responsibilities as the company may reasonably require.

Required Skills/Qualifications (Essential)

Required Skills/Qualifications (Desirable)

• Experience of working directly with sub-contractors
• To be able to demonstrate through previous work experience, an ability to interpret technical information to affect changes on the plant
• Understanding of SCADA systems and PLC’s
• Operational and maintenance knowledge of wastewater treatment plant
• Demonstrate the ability to work within a quality system
• Knowledge of Water and Wastewater treatment plants
• Training in Environmental Health and Safety
• Time served Technician/Fitter/Electrician/Mechanic

What We Offer

• Salary Banding – £40,000 - £42,000 (DOE)
• Hours of Work – 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
• Standby - £25 per day. Will be expected to be on standby 1 in 4
• Overtime – will be paid at 1.5. When rostered standby, there is associated overtime on Saturday and Sunday (4 hours per day).
• Holidays – 25 days + 8 statutory days
• Probationary Period – 6 months
• Pension – Can join immediately or auto enrolled after 3 months - Employee 5% and Employer 5% via salary sacrifice
• Eligible to join Private Healthcare after successfully completing probation
• Eligible for Death in Service benefit (4 x basic salary) and Group Income Protection upon commencement of employment
• Notice – 1 week during probation, increasing to 1 month thereafter
