Job summary

OCS UK & Ireland is seeking a time-served Fabric Engineer to join our Technical Services mobile team in Redditch, delivering reactive and planned maintenance on a major retail contract. The role covers carpentry, painting decorating, door hanging, flooring repairs, glazing and ceiling grids, with on-call support and strict adherence to safety standards and service levels.

You will liaise with subcontractors, provide quotations and help keep sites safe, clean and well maintained while supporting

Qualifications

• Time-served Fabric engineer with a maintenance background.
• Experience in carpentry, painting decorating, door hanging, flooring repairs, glazing, masonry, locksmithing and tiling.
• L8 ACOP and safety documentation knowledge and experience.
• Legionella awareness and CSCS Skills card.
• First Aid and a valid driving licence.
• IT literate with basic Excel & MS Office skills.

Responsibilities

• Complete reactive works orders and PPMs within defined time SLAs & KPIs.
• Contribute to contract profitability and overall service delivery.
• Plan, inspect and carry out repairs or preventative maintenance and respond to breakdowns promptly.
• On-call cover on average 1 in 8 weeks.
• Carry out fabric repairs, small plumbing, joinery and related works.
• Provide quotations for recommended works and ensure safe systems of work.
• Keep sites to high standards and provide handyman services including L8.
• Liaise with subcontractors, cleaners and security to manage site operations.
• Provide callout response for the client as per rota, on average 1 in 4 weeks.

About The Role:

Days of Working: Monday to Friday - 08:00 to 17:00

Working in our Technical Services mobile team on a Major Retail contract with opportunities to support other Commercial and Residential contracts in our continually expanding division

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure all delegated Reactive Works orders and PPMs are completed within the contract-defined time SLAs & KPIs.
• The successful candidate must provide a significant contribution to overall efficiency, effectiveness and contract profitability and must, therefore, play its part in the overall delivery of service.
• The candidate will support with the implementation of an integrated approach for the delivery of all contracted services ensuring that all works are delivered safely on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
• On call cover on average 1 in 8 weeks.
• To plan, inspect and carry out repairs or preventative maintenance as required and to respond to breakdowns in a timely fashion.
• Duties to include building fabric repairs, small plumbing, joinery.
• To assist the maintenance team as required with any other facilities work
• Provide quotations for any works recommended.
• Take responsibility for ensuring that a safe system of work is followed prior to the commencement of the work activity
• Ensure that work activities are properly carried out
• Ensure that sites are kept to the highest standards, to ensure all works are completed, to provide general handyman services including L8.
• Liaising with subcontractors, cleaners and security to ensure the facilities management of site is carried out effectively.
• Provide a callout response for the client as detailed on the callout rota, on average 1 in 4 weeks.

Essential Hiring Criteria:

• Time-served Fabric engineer with a maintenance background.
• Experienced skills in Carpentry, Painting Decorating, Door Hanging, Carpet/Lino repairs, Glazing Repairs, Masonry Repairs, Locksmiths, Tiling, and ceiling grids/tiles.
• L8 ACOP.
• Sound knowledge of understanding and developing safety documentation to ensure site safety procedures are always followed.
• Legionella Awareness.
• CSCS Skills card or equivalent qualification.
• First Aid.
• Must have a current, valid driving licence
• IT Literate - Basic understanding of Excel & Microsoft products
