Job summary

OCS UK & Ireland is seeking a time-served Fabric engineer to join our nationwide Technical Services mobile team on a major Retail contract. You will perform fabric repairs, carpentry and plastering tasks, maintain safety standards, and contribute to contract profitability.

Role operates Monday–Friday 08:00–17:00 with on-call duties, requiring IT literacy, CSCS and L8 ACOP, and a valid driving licence. Travel between sites will be involved as part of a mobile team.

Qualifications

  • Time-served Fabric engineer with a maintenance background.
  • Proven skills in carpentry, decorating, joinery and related trades.
  • Must hold L8 ACOP and CSCS qualification.
  • Ability to develop safety documentation and ensure site safety.
  • Legionella awareness is desirable.
  • CSCS card or equivalent required.
  • First Aid certification is essential.
  • Must have a current, valid driving licence.
  • IT literacy including basic Excel and Microsoft products.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, inspect and carry out repairs or preventative maintenance as required.
  • Carry out building fabric works, minor plumbing, joinery and related tasks.
  • Provide quotations for works and ensure safe working practices.
  • Respond to breakdowns promptly and coordinate with teams on site.
  • Support with on-site service delivery to meet SLAs and KPIs.
  • Liaise with subcontractors, cleaners and security to maintain site quality.
  • On-call cover approximately 1 in 8 weeks.
  • Ensure works are completed within budget and to required standards.

About The Role:

Days of Working: Monday to Friday - 08:00 to 17:00


Working in our Technical Services mobile team on a Major Retail contract with opportunities to support other Commercial and Residential contracts in our continually expanding division


Key Responsibilities:


  • Ensure all delegated Reactive Works orders and PPMs are completed within the contract-defined time SLAs & KPIs.

  • The successful candidate must provide a significant contribution to overall efficiency, effectiveness and contract profitability and must, therefore, play its part in the overall delivery of service.

  • The candidate will support with the implementation of an integrated approach for the delivery of all contracted services ensuring that all works are delivered safely on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.

  • On call cover on average 1 in 8 weeks.

  • To plan, inspect and carry out repairs or preventative maintenance as required and to respond to breakdowns in a timely fashion.

  • Duties to include building fabric repairs, small plumbing, joinery.

  • To assist the maintenance team as required with any other facilities work

  • Provide quotations for any works recommended.

  • Take responsibility for ensuring that a safe system of work is followed prior to the commencement of the work activity

  • Ensure that work activities are properly carried out

  • Ensure that sites are kept to the highest standards, to ensure all works are completed, to provide general handyman services including L8.

  • Liaising with subcontractors, cleaners and security to ensure the facilities management of site is carried out effectively.

  • Provide a callout response for the client as detailed on the callout rota, on average 1 in 4 weeks.


Essential Hiring Criteria:


  • Time-served Fabric engineer with a maintenance background.

  • Experienced skills in Carpentry, Painting Decorating, Door Hanging, Carpet/Lino repairs, Glazing Repairs, Masonry Repairs, Locksmiths, Tiling, and ceiling grids/tiles.

  • L8 ACOP.

  • Sound knowledge of understanding and developing safety documentation to ensure site safety procedures are always followed.

  • Legionella Awareness.

  • CSCS Skills card or equivalent qualification.

  • First Aid.

  • Must have a current, valid driving licence

  • IT Literate - Basic understanding of Excel & Microsoft products
