Job summary

First Base is seeking a Maintenance Technician in Bridgwater to perform PPM across site machinery and infrastructure, quickly respond to breakdowns, and support production with reliable mechanical solutions.

The role requires a time-served apprenticeship with NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in engineering, plus hands-on maintenance experience, fault finding, and CMMS familiarity. A proactive communicator who can work independently or in a team is essential.

Qualifications

• Time-served apprenticeship with NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in engineering.
• Experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance.
• Proficient in fault finding and root cause analysis.
• PC literate; experience with maintenance systems (e.g., CMMS).
• Effective communicator with strong problem-solving ability.

Responsibilities

• Execute planned preventative maintenance across site machinery and infrastructure.
• Respond rapidly to equipment breakdowns and implement effective solutions.
• Support operations by resolving mechanical issues impacting production efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve reliability and resolve complex faults.
• Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations and site procedures.
• Complete actions from the CAR system.
• Communicate maintenance plans and machine handovers with relevant departments.
• Assist with commissioning, upgrades, and configuration of machinery and facilities.
• Maintain detailed records of work completed, parts used, and fault analysis.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

Location: Bridgwater
Hours: Double days - 6am - 2pm/ 2pm - 10pm
Salary: £42,000 + benefits

Key Responsibilities of a Maintenance Technician:

• Execute planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across all site machinery and infrastructure
• Respond rapidly to equipment breakdowns and implement effective solutions
• Support operations by resolving mechanical issues impacting production efficiency

• Communicate maintenance plans and machine handovers with relevant departments
