Job summary

Probe UK in Cambridge is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our Shift Manufacturing Maintenance team at one of the UK plants producing popular food products.

The role focuses on ensuring day-to-day operation of machinery and equipment, across mechanical, electrical, and programming aspects. You will work 12-hour shifts days and nights, using SAP for task logging and contributing to continuous improvement to boost plant efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Minimum NVQ Level 3 / BTEC Level 3 or City & Guilds Part 3 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Time-served apprenticeship desirable
  • HNC desirable

Responsibilities

  • Complete planned and reactive maintenance tasks and improvement work with designated area.
  • Record and interpret machinery efficiencies relating to Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost, and provide immediate corrective actions.
  • Liaise with area Planner to ensure planned maintenance activity is scheduled effectively and improves area performance.
  • Enter accurate, detailed feedback on all completed tasks into SAP daily.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Maintenance Technician to join a global business at one of the UK manufacturing plants producing some of the UK's most loved food products. Engineers are the heartbeat of everything we do.

The plants are complex, fast-moving environments where no two shifts are ever the same. Working as part of the Shift Manufacturing Maintenance team, the Maintenance Technician is instrumental in the day-to-day efficient operation of machinery and equipment in their area of responsibility.

Being assigned to specific plant equipment, the Maintenance Technician will analyse performance trends and lead Continuous Improvement activity to ensure optimum plant efficiency whether it be mechanical, electrical or programming the cause of the issue.

You must be flexible to work 12-hour shifts of days and nights.

In return for your Maintenance skills and experience, we offer for the Maintenance Technician:

  • Up to £54,000 depending on experience

You must hold a minimum NVQ Level 3/ BTEC Level 3, or City & Guilds Part 3 in a relevant engineering discipline such as Electrical or Mechanical. A time-served apprenticeship is very desirable along with a HNC.

Some duties for the Maintenance Technician role will involve:

  • Complete planned and reactive maintenance tasks and improvement work with designated area.
  • To record and interpret machinery efficiencies relating to Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost, and provide immediate corrective actions for both the short term and longer-term preventative measures
  • To liaise with area Planner to ensure that planned maintenance activity is planned accordingly and with mind for bettering area performance (for Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost) and assist in the delivery of this as required.
  • Enter accurate, detailed feedback on all completed tasks into SAP daily.

The role of Maintenance Technician role is commutable from Peterborough, Whittlesey, Wisbech, Chatteris and Huntingdon.
