Job Description:

Our client, a global automotive parts manufacturer, is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join their Burton upon Trent plant.

This is a strategic role within the organization for a multi-skilled maintenance engineer (electrical bias) with experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment. The role involves ensuring the effective and efficient operation of plant and warehouse facilities on three rotating shifts.

The Role:

As Maintenance Technician, your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintenance of assembly equipment and facilities as required.
  • Planning and executing Planned Preventative Maintenance.
  • Responding promptly to breakdowns on assembly equipment.
  • Recording and analyzing data from equipment failures.
  • Collaborating with outside contractors.
  • Applying problem-solving techniques to improve equipment uptime.
  • Working with pneumatics, electrics, PLC systems (Siemens), and robotics on bespoke assembly fixtures and conveyor systems.
  • Being flexible and willing to work in any area/shift, supporting opposite shifts when needed.

If you have supervisory experience, this role can lead to a Senior Maintenance Engineer position with responsibility for two Maintenance Technicians and a higher salary.

Candidate Skills and Experience:
  • Maintenance experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, ideally automotive.
  • Relevant qualification: Level 3 or HNC, or equivalent, obtained via a time-served apprenticeship.
  • Proficiency with Siemens PLCs, fault finding, and programming.
  • 18th Edition certification is preferred.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Good interpersonal skills for cooperation across different levels.
  • Ability to identify and eliminate health, safety, ergonomic, and environmental hazards.
  • Willingness to learn and undertake relevant training.

Beneficial skills include:

  • Certified skills such as Fanuc robot controllers, MEWPs, working at height, forklift license.
  • Leadership abilities.
  • Experience with CMMS for maintenance tracking.
  • IT skills including MS Office (Outlook, Teams, Excel).
