Description du poste

At NHS Property Services, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We’re committed to creating a workplace where colleagues feel valued, supported, and empowered to make a meaningful impact. As part of our mission to maintain safe, compliant, and efficient healthcare environments, we are looking for a skilled and proactive Maintenance Technician (Plumbing) to join our team supporting healthcare sites across Thames Valley Central.

About the Role

As a Maintenance Technician (Plumbing), you will play a key role in delivering planned and reactive maintenance across a diverse healthcare estate. Working across sites throughout Berkshire and Basingstoke, with St Mark's Hospital as your base location, you will ensure plumbing and mechanical systems remain safe, compliant, and fully operational.

This is a hands-on role requiring a proactive individual who can think on their feet, use their initiative, and work independently to diagnose and resolve faults. You'll work with a variety of commercial plumbing systems, plant rooms, boiler rooms, and associated mechanical services that support the delivery of essential healthcare services.

Who You Are

You are a qualified plumbing professional with experience in commercial maintenance environments. You enjoy problem-solving, take pride in delivering high-quality work, and can confidently manage a varied workload across multiple sites. You thrive in a role where no two days are the same and are committed to providing excellent service to customers and colleagues alike.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carrying out planned preventative and reactive maintenance on plumbing and mechanical systems.
  • Diagnosing faults and undertaking repairs to minimise downtime and disruption.
  • Maintaining and repairing commercial plumbing installations, plant rooms, boiler rooms, pumps, valves, and associated mechanical assets.
  • Ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with company procedures and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Accurately recording maintenance activities and completing required documentation.
  • Building effective relationships with customers and stakeholders across the healthcare estate.
  • Participating in a 1 in 8 on-call rota to provide out-of-hours support when required.
  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and supporting the wider estates team.
What You'll Bring
  • NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing or an equivalent qualification.
  • Experience working within commercial plumbing and mechanical maintenance environments.
  • Knowledge of plant rooms, boiler rooms, and commercial building services.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • A proactive approach with the ability to use initiative and work independently.
  • Understanding of health and safety and compliance requirements.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Experience working within healthcare, facilities management, or other large commercial environments.
  • Gas qualifications or additional mechanical building services experience.
  • Experience working with CAFM systems.
Where You'll Be

This is a field-based role covering Thames Valley Central, including healthcare facilities across Berkshire and Basingstoke, with St Mark's Hospital serving as the base location.

  • 37.5 hours per week
  • Salary from £41,000 per annum
  • Participation in a 1 in 8 on-call rota
  • Full UK Driving Licence required
What We Can Offer You

We understand how important life is outside of work so, as well as a competitive salary, we will also offer:

  • 27 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays, with the option of buying additional weeks' leave.
  • A Smarter Working Policy, empowering you to choose how and where you work where operationally appropriate.
  • Training and development opportunities through our Professional Excellence Framework.
  • SMART Pension contribution with company contributions up to 6%.
  • A range of flexible benefits, including NHS retail discounts and Cycle to Work Scheme.
  • Colleague Assistance Programme and wellbeing support.
An Organisation with a Purpose…

We are an organisation with a passion for giving back. Putting money back into the NHS, supporting our charity partners, enabling colleagues to volunteer within their local communities, and working towards becoming net zero carbon by 2050.
