Job summary

Proactive Global is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Technician to join our engineering and production team in the United Kingdom. You will perform planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs across a range of manufacturing equipment, keeping machinery safe and productive while supporting continuous improvements.

The role requires strong mechanical maintenance experience on manual and CNC tools, with fault-finding skills and a proactive, shop-floor mindset.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical maintenance experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Experience maintaining manual or CNC machine tools, including lathes, mills and grinders.
• Hands-on, practical approach with fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently while also working effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs on a range of machinery.
• Maintain and repair equipment including lathes, mills, grinders, furnaces and wire-making lines.
• Support the mechanical assembly and installation of bespoke welding machines.
• Assist with managing the site maintenance schedule to help minimise downtime and maintain production efficiency.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve machinery, equipment and production processes.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out effective repairs in a timely manner.
• Work closely with the Maintenance and Production teams to ensure equipment is safe, reliable and fit for purpose.
• Maintain a safe and organised working environment, following relevant health and safety procedures.

Maintenance Technician

Salary: £18.00-£20.00 per hour DOE

Hours; Standard Day Shift

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on and experienced Maintenance Technician to join our engineering and production team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs across a range of manufacturing equipment. You will play an important role in keeping machinery operating safely and efficiently, minimising downtime, and supporting continuous improvements across the site.

This is a practical role suited to someone with strong mechanical maintenance experience who enjoys problem-solving and getting involved on the shop floor.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs on a range of machinery.
• Maintain and repair equipment including lathes, mills, grinders, furnaces and wire-making lines.

Essential Experience, Skills & Qualifications

• Strong mechanical maintenance experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Experience maintaining manual or CNC machine tools, including lathes, mills and grinders.
• A hands-on, practical approach with strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently while also working effectively as part of a team.
• A proactive attitude and willingness to get involved across a range of maintenance activities.
• Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship, Level 3 NVQ, City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering, or a similar recognised qualification.

Desirable Experience

• Experience maintaining production machinery.
• Experience working with or maintaining industrial furnaces.
• Experience with bespoke machinery or mechanical assembly.
