Job summary

Alstom Wembley is seeking a Depot Engineer to support safety, efficiency and reliability of rail operations. You’ll work alongside dedicated teams across maintenance, operations and logistics, performing depot duties including FLT driving, refueling, and system top-ups, plus fault finding and preventative maintenance.

Qualifications

  • Experience or understanding of maintenance tasks, including preventative and corrective maintenance.
  • Knowledge of electrical or mechanical systems, plumbing, and coach repairing.
  • Familiarity with depot operations, such as fuelling, sanding, and system top-ups.

Responsibilities

  • General depot duties, e.g., Line of Routes.
  • Primary fault finding/reporting.
  • Depot cleaning/general housekeeping.
  • Driving company vehicles if certified.
  • Taking fuel meter readings off rail vehicles.
  • Train cleaning by exception.

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your engineering expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside dedicated and collaborative teammates.

You’ll play a key role in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and reliability of our operations. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (maintenance, operations, and logistics), perform tasks such as FLT driving, sanding, fuelling, system top-ups, and general depot duties, and take on responsibilities such as fault finding, preventative maintenance, and mentoring others, and much more.

We’ll look to you for:
  • General depot duties, e.g., Line of Routes.
  • Chlorinating water points.
  • Primary fault finding/reporting.
  • side skirt cleans, brake pads, block changes, etc.
  • Gritting of walkways in severe weather conditions and/or exceptional circumstances.
  • DMU service exams.
  • Depot cleaning/general housekeeping.
  • Driving company vehicles if certified.
  • Taking of fuel meter readings off rail vehicles.
  • Train cleaning by exception.
