Job summary

Theo James Recruitment is supporting a well-established manufacturing business in Gateshead seeking an experienced Maintenance Team Leader. You will provide hands-on technical leadership, drive reliability and continuous improvement across the site, and lead a team of maintenance engineers in a fast-paced production environment.

Qualifications

• Time-served engineering apprenticeship is required.
• Strong electrical and/or mechanical fault-finding skills.
• Experience leading or supervising engineering teams.
• Knowledge of planned and preventative maintenance systems.
• Continuous improvement and root cause analysis experience.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Proactive approach to safety, reliability and team development.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the engineering team to plan and perform maintenance safely, efficiently and to high standards.
• Prioritise daily maintenance activities and allocate resources accordingly.
• Provide first-line technical support during equipment breakdowns and carry out hands-on maintenance.
• Drive continuous improvement and equipment reliability initiatives across the site.
• Support root-cause analysis to eliminate recurring failures and minimise downtime.
• Collaborate with production to reduce downtime and optimise performance.
• Manage contractors and ensure work is completed safely and to scope.
• Validate permits to work, risk assessments and maintain CMMS records.
